Juvenile Justice/Misdemeanor Probation Officer 3.9 3.9 out of 5 stars 2757 S Main St, Pikeville, TN 37367 Essential Functions Supervision of assigned juvenile delinquent offenders Supervision of misdemeanor offenders Supervision based on Risk Score, Treatment plan, and special conditions placed by Juvenile Court Supervision of misdemeanor offenders pursuant to court order Face to Face office visits School visits Parent Visits Conduct drug screens Conduct home visits Collection of supervision fees Monitoring of court fines/public service work Counsel offenders relating to community adjustment. Determine juvenile offenders needs in becoming successful and lowering recidivism rates. Determine if misdemeanor offender has substance abuse or mental health issues Life coping skills School counseling Job seeking Anger Management classes Substance Abuse counseling Moral Reconation Therapy classes Mental Health Counseling Computer and general office duties Prepare, maintain, and document reporting notes pertinent to juvenile Prepare, maintain, and document reporting of misdemeanor offenders Prepare monthly statistical report. Conduct contact reporting with juveniles, parents, court, and school. Conduct monthly reporting as required with misdemeanor clients. Obtain school and court records. Evaluate participant progress Maintain records of programming, determine payment plans and goals, and ensure compliance with court ordered obligations Monitor and record payments of fines, court cost, and restitution Record hours of public service work completion Monitor success of programming ordered by court and program Conduct Risk Needs Assessments

Intake Assessment Supervision of juvenile offender based off of assessments completed Must be completed within standards time frame Pursue professional development and training opportunities SETHRA annual training Trainings provided by Department of Child Services Attend staff development training as requested by Director Attend department meetings and provide updates on activities/progress. Attend Moral Reconation Therapy Interaction with the Court system Coordinate and identify service providers which may benefit juvenile Maintain contact with Juvenile court for notification of success or delinquency of juvenile Attend Circuit Court in designated counties Maintain contact with District Attorneys, Public Defenders, and Judges File Violation of Probation Petitions when non-compliance arises. File Violation of Probation Warrants in Court when clients are non-compliant. Attend review hearings to determine offender success. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Attributes Required Knowledge of principles, practices, methods and techniques of juvenile court system and corrections casework. Knowledge of social services and service providers who specialize in delinquent youth. Knowledge of General Sessions/Circuit Court practices and be efficient in reading a Judgement/Revocation Order. Communication Proficiency

  • ability to express ideas clearly, concisely and convincingly both in oral and written communications. Client-offender focus
  • develops offender specific counseling plans, evaluate offender situations incorporating high level offender focused decision making skills. Collaboration Skills

  • maintains organized filing system, possesses general knowledge and experience with office equipment along with detail orientated abilities. Technical Capacity

Minimum Qualifications Prior experience in criminal justice or related field.

Work Environment This position functions in diverse work environments including offender homes, judicial court, and in a general office environment. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position at 37.5 hours per week.
