Labcorp iscurrently seeking a Environmental Health and Safety Manager to jointheir team out of Birmingham, Alabama. In this role, theEnvironment, Health and Safety Manager will lead, plan, and manageprograms for Labcorp to assure safe, compliant, and reliableoperations. The EHS Leader plays a key role and works directly witheach locations leadership teams. He/She must have a strong abilityto influence employees, set direction and vision, and providesupport to all levels within the organization
Position Summary:
Oversees EHS operations for 1 or more Labcorp locations that mayinclude Laboratories, Patient Service Centers, In OfficePhlebotomists, Branches, or Stat labs within a business unit withinan assigned region. Manage and administer environmental, health,and safety programs to meet regulatory requirements, corporateinitiatives, and company objectives Implement strategies toeffectively assess and prevent applicable EHS related risks (wastemanagement, fire protection, infectious disease, etc.). Acts as thetechnical lead for all aspects of industrial hygiene, biosafety,laboratory safety, occupational health, chemical management, andwaste management. Ensures that sites have accurately characterizedwaste streams and are managing programs in a safe responsible andcompliant manner. Partner with site management to ensure applicableEHS related goals (accident rates, training participation, etc.)and regulatory requirements (assessments, plans, training, etc.)are achieved. May lead EHS Committee and Team activities, such asdepartment safety teams, emergency response team, etc. Managesincident investigations and report EHS-related (injuries/illnesses,environmental metrics, risk assessments, EHS action items)information into the Company’s EHS management system. Ensuremedical care is provided to work related injuries and illnesses andmanage worker’s compensation cases, where applicable. Respond tosite EHS related emergency situations, including fires, explosions,chemical release, medical, etc. Develop, implement, maintain, anddeliver (as necessary) an effective and compliant EHS trainingprogram. Monitor EHS related regulatory developments and determineapplicability to the site. Initiate, establish and cultivatemutually beneficial relationships with internal and externalclients by communicating and influencing effectively at multiplelevels of the organization to achieve results. Act as the liaisonbetween Labcorp and regulatory authorities during site inspections.
Partner with Facilities, and other groups to ensure siteconstruction/renovation activities incorporate EHS relatedconsiderations. Work with contracted insurance agencies tocontinually improve EHS programs via hosting inspections andimplementing recommendations. Conduct routine site audits andreviews to identify systemic EHS management gaps, developcorrective measures and implement solutions to sustain compliancewith regulatory and LabCorp requirements. Ensure the timelycorrection of findings. Participate in corporate lead EHS projects.
May function as a member or leader of Corporate EHS audit team.
Assist in Client, and regulatory inspections as requested. Performsother related duties as assigned.
Education/QualificationsRequired:
Bachelors degree in science or technical field
TravelRequirements:
Estimated 20 % of time will be spent traveling tolocations within assigned region.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
3 years minimum of applied professional EHS work experience. EHSexperience; in a laboratory setting or demonstrated expertise inindustrial hygiene, biosafety, chemical and waste management. AProfessional certification, such as Certified Industrial Hygienistor Certified Safety Professional. 3 years minimum experience ofleading people or managing programs. Experience in providing EHSleadership to multiple locations within the USA.
