Description Chipton-Ross is seeking a Safety, Health & Environment Generalist for a contract opportunity in Troy, AL.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
(REQUIRED
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
):
Hazardous waste management experience (current RCRA and DOT training preferred).
Experience/knowledge of Environmental regulations (i.e., air, water/storm-water, waste, SPCC, EPCRA/SARA) including permitting and compliance.
Experience with life safety programs (Confined space, control of hazardous energy, hot work, working at heights, etc.).
Full understanding of OSHA General and Construction safety and health standards is required.
Excellent interpersonal skills (written & oral), with ability to resolve conflict, work with and as a team, be flexible and adaptable, have above average problem solving and analytical skills, and be proactive.
Familiar with root cause analysis, office and industrial ergonomics, industrial hygiene monitoring, SDS reviews and interpretations, and incident investigation methodology.
Must be able to obtain a security clearance upon request.
Ability to multi-task and work in a very fast paced, ever-changing work environment.
The ability and willingness to occasionally work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
Ability and willingness to commute between Huntsville locations as needed.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
With minimum general supervision, this individual will work under the direction of the
HSV EH&S
Manager to develop solutions to assigned technical problems and assigned daily tasks. Work is reviewed for sound technical judgement and overall adequacy. In this role you will have an opportunity to build a strong understanding of environmental, health and safety aspects as they relate to rocket engine and component manufacturing, processing and testing.
Essential Functions:
40%
- Works with supervision and employees in applying occupational health, facility safety, ergonomics, emergency preparedness, and hazardous waste management. Activities are performed in accordance with organization and program standards and procedures to foster a positive safety culture. Works with regulatory agencies, and other site and external occupational safety professionals.
20% - Conducts area inspections and audits and evaluates the impact of emerging issues and regulations on company operations to ensure compliance with regulatory and company policies in regard to safety, health, and environmental requirements to maintain 100% regulatory and company policy requirements.
15% - Performs health and safety evaluations, investigations and methodologies for continual improvement and prevention of employee injuries/illnesses and hardware/process improvements throughout the site. Coordinates resolutions, evaluates engineering design and performs safety analyses, ensuring appropriate selection of control measures and hazard mitigation.
10% - Plans, develops, directs and assesses programs to achieve and maintain a safe and healthy work environment, with emphasis on facility safety programs and associated monitoring.
15% - Evaluates existing or emergent risk management control technologies and provides information, regulatory interpretation, and technical expertise to management and employees.
