Job Description
Albemarle Magnolia is hiring for a Safety Professional. This position is located in Magnolia and is on-site, with some travel for training activities required.
What You Will Do
Spend 40-50% of time out in the field interacting with site personnel and looking for hazards.
Perform Management Engagements and Permit Audits as well as any other assigned interactions at a level higher than the minimum required
Participate in JSA’s and Job Hazard Analysis as required to support the areas
Perform safe work permitting as required for administration areas
Support internal safety activities, including but not limited to:
Guide, support and direct the work of the Safety Technician
Participate in whole or part with the emergency teams, including acting as trainer and in lead role as necessary
Oversee the Safety Advocate program
Guide, direct, and potentially oversee the Security team
Coordinate site deluge system management with EPSM
Participate as a safety authority in audits of other Albemarle sites
Participate as a Magnolia representative on internal audits
Lead and/or participate in Site Policy Committee meetings
Participate in RCA’s and 5 Why’s as necessary
Assure compliance with external authorities, including but not limited to:
OSHA (supporting the

VPP STAR

program by acting as an SGE)
Homeland Security (including CFATS compliance and other requirements)
Insurance Company interface (participating in audits, submitting impairments, etc)
Industrial Hygiene testing and support with corporate and contractors
LEPC representative with participation in drills and tabletop exercises
Participate in external audits as a Magnolia representative
Active member of 1 or more SET teams, potentially serve on SET Guidance committee
Assure proper use and care of emergency safety equipment (fire truck, ambulance, Hazmat trailer, etc)
Rotating HSE on-call team
What You Bring

Required:

Candidate should have a minimum 2 years of experience working in a Safety, Environmental, or PSM (Process Safety Management) position in a facility with flammable / toxic chemicals.
Either direct experience working in Safety (2 years) or a four-year degree in a Safety Related field
Internal candidates with experience serving in a leadership role on an emergency team or on a specialty team can be considered “direct experience”
Other safety-critical leadership roles within the units can be considered upon request
Certifications relevant to safety can also be considered as direct experience
Knowledge and experience in typical industrial computer systems (Microsoft Office, SAP or similar, etc)

Preferred:

Certified Safety Professional credentials or similar preferred
Magnolia site employees should be aware of both the Albemarle Magnolia Site Quality Policy and the Albemarle Magnolia Site Quality Objectives plus understand how their role contributes to each. Employees are required to follow and support the requirements of our quality management system which is available on the ISO Sync site and can be accessed through Albert by all site workers.
