POSITION PURPOSE
The Manager, EHS monitors and evaluates the workplace to ensure compliance with safety-related regulations. This position provides day-to-day tactical support, in addition to the planning, development, administration and management of safety policies, programs and training for the organization, in partnership with the Director, EHandS and Branch operations. Requires working knowledge of federal and state safety laws and the ability to identify and evaluate hazards. Ensures all Briggs Industrial Solutions standards are adhered to and executed consistent with company direction.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
1. Manage and implement safety programs within business requirements 2. Plan, develop, administer and manage safety training in accordance with business requirements 3. Develop safety working plans in collaboration with the Director, EHandS and cross-functional teams 4. Manage safety quality data and metrics collection, reporting and related activities 5. Use safety metrics to identify issues, make decisions and track improvements 6. Investigate employee incidents and injuries to determine causes and how such accidents might be prevented in the future 7. Ensure all documentation and recordkeeping is properly completed and retained, including accident logs and investigation reports 8. Actively manage compliance with local, state and federal regulations, to include DOT and OSHA 9. Interact with and direct third party Safety pre-qualification Organizations (ISNetWorld, Browz, Avetta, etc) to ensure compliance for the organization 10. Conduct regular inspections of branches, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance 11. Regular and ongoing communication with the branches and cross-functional teams 12. Performs other related duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Basic Knowledge & Competencies:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) Detailed understanding of OSHA standards/regulations and reporting requirements that impact the industry Ability to train and motivate all members of an organization to adopt a safety first culture Strong front of the room / camera presence
Previous Experience/Education:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required 5+ years of safety and health experience in a factory or multi-location organization 3+ years’ experience in safety engineering preferred Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification preferred Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification preferred OSHA 10 and 30 hour instructor training preferred
ISO45001, OSHSAS
180001 and/or OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) training preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 50
% travel Ability to work in a construction, factory or warehouse environment Standing, walking, lifting, twisting and bending on a frequent basis Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
