Full Job Description PURPOSE:

The SQF Manager is the food safety advocate for the plant, providing leadership for the food safety systems and programs. Key drivers are assuring compliance to specification on incoming ingredients, in-process conditions, and finished products.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Serves as the primary contact for all Food Safety, Co-Manufacturing and Regulatory issues. Develops, implements, and manages the Food Safety System. Develops, maintains, and ensures compliance of a qualified HACCP program. Ensures the effectiveness of the Master Sanitation and Pest Control programs for the facility and any associated food grade storage areas Analyzes data to measure, access and improve product quality performance. Communicates compliance results to operating groups, ensures timely feedback and provides technical support to operate processes at target. Utilizes customer and consumer complaint data to identify root cause, then communicates and provides support to implement process/product improvements. Determines the disposition of all raw materials, packaging, and finished product HOLD orders. Develops a Food Safety System that consistently meets regulatory, customer, and third-party audit requirements.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Food Safety Production Areas Notify Supervisors of any repairs or adjustments that are required. Performs and is acting In-House SQF Practitioner Understand, observe, and comply with the handling and usage of the color-coded container policy while in the Production Areas. SQF Practitioner has the responsibility and authority to take any appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the SQF Systems. Perform all duties necessary to meet Company and/or Government requirements and standards as prioritized by the Company. Inform Management of any Food Safety issues or of any processes, which become noncompliant with specified requirements. Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety. Identify and record any problems relating to Food Safety and the integrity of the ingredients, processes, or food safety system. Controls further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of Food Safety issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected. Inform Management of ANY Food Safety issues or of any processes, which become noncompliant with specified requirements. In the absence of immediate supervisor, will assume necessary operational and administrative duties. SQF Practitioner will validate and verify systems annually (Food Safety Fundamentals).

WORKING RELATIONSHIP

1. Internal – Division level Food Safety Assurance, peer group QA managers, and plant operations. 2. External – Customers, consumers, vendors/suppliers, and government contacts.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Pushing, pulling and periodic lifting of up to 25 lbs., on occasion. Able to work for extended periods of time on a

PC. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

A minimum of 5 years in Food Safety Management, knowledge of federal and state food safety regulations. Should have oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and superior organizational abilities. Ability to take initiative, maintain confidentiality, meet deadlines and ability to work in a team environment. Microsoft Office experience.
