Job Summary Overview:
Acousti Engineering is seeking a proactive Safety Manager to manage the site-specific safety requirements of the project while ensuring a safe working environment.
Role:
A Safety Manager oversees workplace safety, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and fostering a safety-conscious culture. They will manage safety programs, conduct audits, investigate incidents, and provide training.
Reporting:
This position reports directly to the Corporate Safety Director.
Responsibilities:
Compliance:
Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety (OSH) guidelines and regulations.
Risk Management:
Conduct risk assessments, identify hazards, and implement control measures to minimize risks.
Training:
Conduct safety training for employees and subcontractors.
Inspections and Audits:
Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
Incident Investigation:
Investigate accidents and incidents, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
Policy Enforcement:
Monitor employee conformity to safety laws and policies.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate safety-related records and documentation.
Communication:
Communicate safety-related information to employees and management.
Collaboration:
Collaborate with project management teams and other stakeholders to address safety concerns.
Continuous Improvement:
Continuously improve safety programs and practices.
Other:
Other responsibilities as required by contract requirements not listed or as directed by management.
Qualifications:
Experience:
5-10 years construction experience on large commercial projects with 2-5 years as a safety professional.
Certifications:
OSHA 30, OSHA
510 or BCSP STSC, and First Aid / CPR / AED.
Knowledge:
Thorough knowledge of health and safety laws and guidelines.
Understanding of risk assessment and hazard control.
Familiarity with relevant regulations (e.g., OSHA).
Experience in fall protection, scaffolding, and aerial lift equipment is required
Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficiency with Procore.
Lead by Example.
Physical Requirements:
This position involves standing and walking for extended periods, reaching overhead, and using fine motor skills for data entry. The employee will be required to wear safety glasses, gloves, a hard hat, will be exposed to moderate noise levels, and the ability to work in varying weather conditions.
