Summary As a Safety Manager at Calspan, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and health of our workforce. This position will lead the development, implementation, maintenance, and enforcement of comprehensive Safety and Security Plans and ensure the protection of personnel, Facility Users, assets, and data. Responsibilities Manage annual updates to the Safety and Security Plans and perform ad-hoc revisions following any incidents, securing Department approvals prior to each implementation. Conduct comprehensive safety, security, liability, and insurance risk analyses, document their findings, and develop and implement controls to eliminate or mitigate identified risks. Ensure 24/7/365 coverage, including at least one armed officer at the guard gate, roving patrols, access protocols, equipment provisioning, camera and lighting deployments, and privacy safeguards. Manage with the intent to motivate, train and develop. Manage administrative responsibilities(scheduling, timekeeping, budgeting). Provide timely, constructive feedback regarding work and performance. Manage non-performing employees in accordance with company policy. Manage high potential employees to career succession and growth opportunities. Develop, implement and maintain company-wide Safety and Environmental Management System. As required, perform safety/environmental audits, implement safety/environmental corrections, and advise company on safety and environmental risks. Serve as the company’s subject-matter expert on safety and environmental items. Maintain safety training database and implement safety training as needed. Serve as the chair of the company’s safety committee. Manage hazardous waste disposal. Manage and support emergency response initiatives. Preferred Education /

Experience:

Bachelors in related discipline 5+ years in related discipline A combination of education and experience equivalent to the above Preferred Knowledge /

Ability:

Deep understanding of federal/state/local safety and security regulations (OSHA, NHTSA, Florida Cybersecurity Standards) Expertise in risk assessment methodologies and insurance/liability evaluation Proficiency in access-control systems, surveillance technologies, and security incident response planning Strong program-management skills and audit compliance Excellent written and oral communication for stakeholder briefings, report generation, and training delivery The salary range provided is a general guideline. Actual pay will depend on several factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and other applicable qualifications.
