Job Summary:
The Compliance Practitioner is responsible for ensuring that all safety, including food safety protocols are adhered to across the organization. This role involves monitoring operations, auditing processes, conducting (JHAs) job hazard analysis, training staff, and staying current with federal, state, and local regulations. The specialist will work closely with operations, quality assurance, and management teams to identify risks, enforce standards, and continuously improve safety practices. This position will support the facility when audited by customers, the company, or 3rd party entities.
Primary Tasks & Responsibilities:
1. Ensure compliance with food safety laws and regulations (e.g., FDA, USDA, HACCP, FSMA) 2. Develop, implement, and monitor food safety plans, including HACCP and allergen control programs, 3. Conduct internal audits and coordinate external inspections with regulatory agencies and third-party auditors. 4. Investigate food safety incidents and customer complaints; implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs). 5. Maintain food safety and food defense documentation, including sanitation records, training records, and supplier certifications. 6. Train employees on good manufacturing practices (GMPs), food hygiene, and sanitation protocols. 7. Enforce occupational health and safety policies in line with OSHA and other regulatory standards. 8. Conduct risk assessments and job hazard analysis to identify safety improvements. 9. Lead safety training and onboarding for new and current employees. 10. Investigate workplace accidents or incidents, ensuring timely reporting and corrective actions. 11. Maintain and manage Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical handling protocols. 12. Oversee PPE usage, emergency response plans, and ergonomic programs.
Knowledge & Skill Requirements:
- Must have experience with BRCGS or SQF standards.
- General industry knowledge of OSHA’s 30-hour general safety criteria.
- Exceptional attention to detail to identify and address food safety issues.
- Ability to communicate effectively with groups of people, including training sessions and team meetings.
- Ability to analyze data and trends to identify potential food safety risks.
- Strong problem-solving skills to address and rectify food safety issues.
- Familiarity with food safety management systems and regulatory requirements.
Education and Experience:
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in food safety and compliance.
- HACCP certification is preferred but can be obtained through employer.
