Position Summary The Director of Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) leads the development and implementation of a proactive, scalable EH&S culture across all company operations— including chemical handling, field service at customer sites (chemical plants, oil refineries), and waste management/disposal at company facilities. This role is responsible for designing and executing EH&S strategies, policies, and programs to ensure regulatory compliance, protect employee health, and minimize environmental impact as the company grows rapidly. Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and continually improve a comprehensive EH&S management system tailored to industrial services, chemical handling, and waste management operations. Create and maintain a proactive safety culture through training, communication, and leadership at all levels. Design and roll out essential EH&S programs, including: o Safety training plan (for all technicians and staff) o Hurricane preparedness plan (site-specific and field operations) o Fatigue management policy (in line with CDC and industry best practices) o Safety boot/PPE program (procurement, distribution, compliance) Oversee compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local EH&S regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT, etc.), including chemical storage, handling, and waste disposal requirements. Manage and coordinate third-party EH&S service providers for audits, compliance assessments, and specialized training. Lead or oversee root cause analysis and corrective action reviews for all incidents and near misses; ensure timely closure and communication of findings. Conduct regular field visits to customer sites and company facilities to audit work practices, verify compliance, and engage with teams to reinforce EH&S standards. Serve as the primary EH&S liaison with customers, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders. Track, analyze, and report on EH&S performance metrics; set goals and drive continuous improvement. Advise leadership on emerging EH&S risks and regulatory changes; recommend and implement risk mitigation strategies. Oversee the selection, training, and supervision of EH&S staƯ as the company grows. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field. 7+ years of progressive EH&S experience in industrial, chemical, oil & gas, or waste management environments. Demonstrated experience developing and scaling EH&S programs in a multi-site, field-based operation. Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and state regulations relevant to chemical and waste management. Experience managing third-party EH&S service providers and conducting/overseeing audits. Excellent leadership, communication, and change management skills. Ability to travel regularly to field sites and customer locations. Preferred Certifications CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), or CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager).
