SummaryWeisiger Groupis looking for a Director of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS)to plan, implement, and direct EHS strategies, risk management,policies, programs, and processes to position divisions of WeisigerGroup, Carolina Cat and LiftOne, as industry leaders in health,environmental, and safety. This leadership position demands astrategic approach to drive a culture of care, continuousimprovement, injury and vehicular incident reduction, regulatorycompliance, and development across all levels of a high-growthorganization.
Essential FunctionsLeadership & Collaboration:
Develop strong working relationships with divisionalleadership, supervisors, and front line teammates, resulting inopen dialogue, mutual understanding, and trust. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations,facilities and human resources, to integrate EHS practices intodaily operations. Regularly engage with field service teams and drivers tounderstand real-world challenges and ensure practical applicationof safety protocols. Provide leadership, mentorship, development, focus, and cleargoals to the EHS team. Develop and communicate a clear EHS vision and strategy withquick-wins and long-term goals. Align initiatives with root cause analysis and areas of highestimpact. Inspire commitment and ownership of EHS value at everylevel. Foster a proactive safety culture that emphasizes riskreduction, employee engagement, and accountability. Oversee environmental initiatives, such as waste management,pollution prevention, and sustainability efforts. Champion Safety as a core value and integral part of dailyoperations. Inspire or motivate a change in behavior or process. Act as a creative problem-solver willing to listen, adapt andlead teams through complicated situations. Develop and lead emergency response procedures, ensuring thatemployees are well-prepared to respond effectively toemergencies. Promote a proactive approach to identifying and addressingsafety challenges. Collaborate with field-based Safety Trainers and ProgramSpecialists to turn insights into strategy and measurement.
DataAnalytics:
Monitor and report on safety performance, trends, initiatives,and incidents to senior leadership and the Board. Effectively leverage data to provide root cause identificationand to prioritize actions that prevent injuries, accidents, andunsafe conditions/behaviors. Compile, analyze, and interpret data related to occupationalaccidents and illnesses. Report figures on a monthly basis toemployees and management. Provide leadership on the latest safety tools, software, andautomation technologies.
Compliance, Regulatory Oversight & RiskManagement:
Oversee safety, environmental, and driver compliance, includingcompliance with OSHA, EPA, MSHA, DOT, FMCSA, and other relevantagencies. Act as liaison to regulatory agencies and other governmental orpublic entities. Lead investigations of significant recordable and near-missaccidents, injuries, and/or occupational diseases to determine rootcauses and preventive measures. Report findings to seniorleadership team and division management in written format. Advise management and employees of non-compliance. Oversee injury case management. Assist with environmental remediation, if any, in acost-effective and timely manner. Develop and refine safety, health, fleet, and environmentalpolicies and procedures. Oversee driver qualification files, DOT logs, andhours-of-service records. Manage workers compensation claims and return to workprograms. Assist Fleet Director with safety issues and inspectionsrelated to service vehicles.

Demonstrated strong leadership skills and specialized knowledgeof risk management and safety practices. Strong communication, presentation, and negotiationskills. Proficient in use of various computer applications such asExcel, MS Word and various other database derivedapplications. Knowledge of US federal and state regulations pertaining tooccupational safety and health and the environment. Demonstrated ability to take initiative in all aspects of EHSmanagement. Ability to initiate action with all levels including, withoutlimitation, various divisional leaders, facility managers,continuous improvement team, regulatory agency staff members, and,as necessary, implement emergency response procedures. Strong managerial, communication and interpersonal relationshipskills with the ability to work with various functionalgroups.
Education and/or Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Science, engineering or related field.
Advanced degree (Masters or Ph.D.) is preferred. Minimum of at least 15-years experience in the field ofEHS. Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Chemicals SafetyManagement (CSM), OSHA Certified Instructor, Certified HazardousMaterials Manager (CHHM), Certified Environmental Manager (CEM),and/or Associate Safety Professionals (ASP) preferred. Requires excellent communications skills, both verbal andwritten. Minimum 5 years safety management experience in a mechanicalservice, industrial, or manufacturing type environment. Research and analysis skills of existing and potential safetytechnologies for continuous improvement. Experience with leading and implementing behavior based safetyprograms. Proven managerial/leadership skills such as work planning,delegating and evaluating. Proven mentoring and coaching abilities; demonstrated abilityto motivate and inspire others. Knowledge of OSHA laws and regulations as related to 29 CFR1910 or 1926. Knowledge of
MSHA 30 CFR
a plus, but notrequired. Ability and knowledge to investigate industrial accidents andinjuries and to determine the root cause and preventionmeasures. Ability to exercise mature judgment and suggest the appropriateaction when working with employees, management, or customers. Capable of developing a sense of trust among team members atall levels of the organization. Demonstrated collaboration, negotiation, conflict resolution,and interpersonal skills. Able to analyze complicated EHS issues and summarize conciselyfor non-EHS employees. Able to develop action plans and bring to a successfulconclusion corrective action. Must act in a way that never compromises ethics, integrity, orsafety. Knowledge of workers compensation laws and regulations andreturn to duty programs.
