Full Job Description Overview:

The Manager will develop competencies, assess individual performance, evaluate program effectiveness, and communication with key stakeholders. This position provides leadership to assure the use of disciplined improvement processes and tools, and process/performance measurement that will support the reduction of unintended adverse patient outcomes. The Patient Safety Manager will design and implement ongoing education to facilitate understanding and implementation of patient safety standards and principles. Qualifications:

Education:

4 Year / Bachelors Degree, required. Graduate Degree, preferred. Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Nursing, Informatics, Master’s in Public Health, or other health related field.

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years in health care, required. 3 years Patient Safety/Quality improvement experience, required. Minimum one year leadership experience, required.

Licensure/Certification:

Six Sigma Lean Green Belt, preferred. Patient Safety Certification or equivalent, preferred. Additional Skills (required): Knowledge of High Reliability Organizations (HRO), cause analysis, risk reduction strategies and risk management principles. Superior interpersonal skills. Strong leadership qualities (i.e. management, organizational, analytical, and relationship development). Effective written and oral communication and facilitation skills. Clinical knowledge and background. Understanding of change management. Ability to build teams. Creative, self-motivated and critical-thinking.
