Safety Manager 3.2 3.2 out of 5 stars 16815 Old Beatty Ford Road, Gold Hill, NC 28071 Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Safety Manager to oversee and enhance our workplace safety programs. The Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing and implementing the company’s safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, particularly MSHA standards. This position plays a critical role in fostering a strong safety culture, conducting training, performing inspections, and mitigating risk across all quarry, plant, and transportation operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure company compliance with all applicable MSHA regulations and other safety laws and standards. Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific safety programs, procedures, and policies. Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments at aggregate operations and facilities. Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and follow-up corrective actions. Coordinate and deliver employee safety training, including new hire orientation and ongoing compliance education (e.g., Part 46/48 training). Maintain and submit required documentation, reports, and records for MSHA and internal review. Act as the primary liaison with MSHA during inspections, investigations, and audits. Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics; recommend and implement improvements. Collaborate with site supervisors and managers to promote a proactive safety culture. Manage and maintain safety equipment, PPE inventory, and emergency response resources. Stay current with changes to MSHA regulations and communicate updates to relevant personnel.
Qualifications:
3+ years of safety experience in mining, aggregates, or heavy industry. Strong knowledge of MSHA regulations (Part 46, 48, 50, etc.) and safety best practices. Certified MSHA Instructor (preferred or willing to obtain). Excellent communication, training, and organizational skills. Proficient with incident reporting and safety data systems. Ability to work independently and travel to multiple sites as needed. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in both office and field (quarry/plant) environments. Regular exposure to dust, noise, heavy equipment, and varying weather conditions. Must be able to walk on uneven terrain, climb stairs/ladders, and wear required PPE.
