Job Description

Environmental Health and Safety Manager AHU Technologies Inc Elkin, NC 28621 The EHS Manager serves as the technical lead and site-level expert for Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) at a regional manufacturing plant. This individual will work closely with plant leadership to implement and maintain EHS programs that drive cultural improvement, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. Key responsibilities include leading assessments and audits, managing environmental and safety procedures, and promoting best practices in line with corporate and industry standards. The EHS Manager plays a critical role in fostering a safe and compliant work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead or support meetings to define tasks, goals, and actions aligned with plant and corporate EHS objectives. Conduct EHS assessments, audits, and investigations; analyze results, implement corrective actions, and report outcomes. Review, update, and create EHS procedures and documentation to align with standards and regulations. Ensure compliance with corporate EHS policies, ISO 14001 EMS standards, industry regulations, and customer requirements. Engage with shop floor personnel to train, coach, and promote safe behaviors and practices. Manage and track EHS initiatives, including project execution and data-driven performance monitoring. Communicate EHS metrics, indicators, and action plans to leadership and staff. Monitor EHS engagement and lead activities that support culture improvement and risk reduction.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering, Environmental Resource Management, Industrial Engineering, Occupational Safety, or a similar technical field. 8-10 years of EHS experience within manufacturing or industrial sectors. Demonstrated experience conducting audits, developing safety programs, and influencing positive safety culture.

Special Requirements:

Must be located within a one-hour drive of the assigned plant. Availability to support emergency response or non-standard work shifts as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong technical knowledge of EHS programs, mechanical systems, and manufacturing processes. Ability to independently manage EHS responsibilities and influence cross-functional teams. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to interface with all levels of staff and external partners. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook). Analytical and detail-oriented with a proven ability to assess and interpret safety data and metrics. Comfortable working 50% of time on the shop floor in high-temperature environments with proper PPE.

Additional Desired Characteristics:

Experience with

ISO 14001 EMS

certification processes. Familiarity with Ariba SAP for budget and requisition tasks. Exposure to environmental permitting and utility usage reduction projects.
