PURPOSE OF POSITION
Reporting to the Corporate Safety Manager, associates manage an assigned geographic region in the development, maintenance and administration of the Company’s safety programs in accordance with applicable laws and regulations; Advise management of applicable laws and regulations pertaining to safety compliance.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee/Implement the company Industrial Hygiene Program-Add
Oversee/Implement the company Ergonomic Program
Work with FM Global and locations for oversight of the risk management program
Oversight of the hearing conservations and respiratory protection program vendors
Assists in administering the company’s safety programs
Advises management on safety laws and regulations
Assists in administering the company’s safety sustainability management system
Oversees safety compliance inspections, including conducting internal audits as needed for all aspects of the safety program, and serves as the primary contact with EPA and OSHA regulatory agencies.
Monitors and reviews policies and procedures to verify compliance with applicable standards and regulations; Makes appropriate recommendations for modification and/or inclusion as necessary
Maintains safety governmental records; manages and administers the electronic record-keeping system for the areas of designated geographic responsibility
Completes and files all required safety reports to maintain compliance with applicable laws and regulations
Identifies safety training needs and ensures that appropriate training takes place
Assists with the development of and implementation of EPA and OSHA written programs and updates as required
Co-manages prevention activities and drills with the Facility Managers
Plans the operating budgets each fiscal year for safety accounts
Develops and implements safety communications, notifications, and campaigns
Investigates and reports all accidents and incidents; works with facility management with issuing warnings per disciplinary procedures for violations of company safety procedures

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Bachelor’s Degree required; safety/OSHA safety or a related field strongly preferred
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a responsible safety related position
Preferred Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH

Thorough knowledge and understanding of federal, state and local safety laws and regulations is essential
Must be willing to travel up to 50% of time, potentially on short notice, which may include air travel
Current Valid Driver’s License
Must be able to work with teams and work with minimal supervision
Internal candidates will be an associate in good standing
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must understand
ADVANCED S&H
principles to include:
Advanced application of all regulatory standards (OSHA, DOT, NFPA, ASEM, ANSI, etc.)
- Education and/or Experience
Application of advanced hazard assessments (e.g. PHA, etc.)
Hazard recognition (e.g. Process hazards such as PRV, fire systems, Instrumentation, etc.)
Critical thinking and problem solving skills (e.g. Setting up hazardous processes - Paint booths, dust collectors, etc.)
Root Cause Analysis - Lead 5 whys, cause mapping effectively
Continuous Improvement at a system level (e.
g. program, improvement across location/region)
Industrial Hygiene Sampling/Reporting
System Safety
Must be able to influence all levels of leadership
Must be able to perform thorough safety assessments at locations
Must be able to guide and train less experienced safety representatives
Continued development of safety knowledge and skills
Must understand Workers Compensation laws and other various local codes throughout a variety of states
