Job Summary:

The UXO Technician III provides Unexploded Ordinance (UXO) and Munitions and Explosives of Concern (MEC) subject matter expertise to a construction support project. The UXO Technician III has the responsibility of monitoring and inspecting all soil disturbance work at the construction site, providing daily safety briefs, and coordinating with the construction firm for on-site UXO support detection services and munitions response notifications when required. This role does not require contact with MEC or Material Potentially Presenting an Explosive Hazard (MPPEH). If anomalies are discovered, location and description will be reported to the base’s Explosive Safety Officer and worksite Project Management staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

+ Employ anomaly avoidance techniques to avoid contact with MEC or MPPEH. + Be present at the construction site during removal of existing asphalt, excavation, boring, and similar ground disturbances to assure anomaly avoidance prior to the initiation of aforementioned activities. + Assist in the preparation of risk and hazard analysis when requested. + Maintain and keep UXO/MEC safety plans and site safety binder up to date. + Prepare procedures for on-site munitions response and notifications. + Conduct safety briefs on potential munition risks. + Ensure on-site personnel complete UXO/MEC Safety Awareness training prior to operation. + Prepare UXO-related administrative reports.

Qualifications:

+ Eight years of experience plus prior military Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD), and/or commercial UXO experience in munitions response actions or range clearance activities or equivalent experience with past performance documentation. + Graduate of Naval School EOD or similar military EOD School of the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Germany, or Australia. + Ability to operate trade-based equipment such as a GA-52Cx metal detector or equivalent and GPS location equipment. + Current

training for 29 CFR 1910.120. + Current 8-hour

supervisor course. + Current OSHA medical physical. + Construction Safety course (online 10 -hour or 30-hour supervisor COI). + Proficiency in the use of Personal Protective Equipment. + Ability to effectively write and prepare safety plans or UXO contact reports. + Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products to include Word and PowerPoint. + Ability to work independently, coordinate with representatives from multiple companies, and local law enforcement and first responder personnel.
