- Uniformed Officer in a Campus Safety capacity provides personal, equipment, and real property security for faculty, staff, students, and visitors within an assigned area of the College campus within the laws established by NY State, and US Department of Education.
Provides patrol duties, access control, emergency response and other basic public assistance services as needed. Performs routine security and Campus Safety patrol duties within assigned patrol zone area proximate to College Campus. II JOB SUMMARY
Supervisory Campus Safety Officer (Lt.) Committed to providing a safe and secure environment for the entire campus community, inclusive of students, faculty and staff and visitors. The location is a 24-hour, 7 day a week site. Provide foot and vehicle patrols on campus and maintain a partnership with local Law Enforcement and other members of the local law enforcement community.
III KEY REQUIREMENTS
Full-time position (NY State/Allied) of 40 hrs/wk guaranteed plus additional shifts as offered for athletic events, special events, and additional coverage. Likely to work 40+hrs/week if so desired when open shifts are available to volunteer for.

- : Must have valid driver’s license, be able to drive, and be able to pass MVR checks with clean driving record.
Driving Requirement:
Must be able to pass Safe Drivers Course, and modified Campus Safety EVOC course On rare occasion you may be called upon to assist other shifts. You will be slotted for 0000-0800 with two consecutive days off each week. Static schedule with Friday, Saturdays off each week. Be able to understand and work well under a Chain of Command Leadership skills needed. You must be able to handle critical incidents in a calm manner You must be able to “triage” multiple occurring difficult situations. Critical decision making is paramount to this position
IV DUTIES

- Bike duties only if certified Foot patrolling is required Responding to incidents on scene Taking good field notes to be able to compile a detailed and articulated incident report in a timely fashion.
- This may require you to stay past your shift on the odd occasion to help complete the report as necessary as these reports are critical for management and College Administrators to review post incident.
V SCHEDULE
This position will integrate responsibilities with the other day shift officers. The open position as described in ‘Requirements” has static days off for the week and will be established..
VI QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Clean
MVR- DMV
license check. You must be able to be cleared with MVR check above and fully capable able to drive the patrol vehicle. You must have a firm understanding of the day-to-day operations of the dynamic Campus environment or relevant transferable experience. You must have excellent customer service skills You must have Excellent communication skills (oral & writing) You must have relevant Knowledge, Skills and Abilities You must have some schedule availability and flexibility Meet all qualification requirements, prior to the closing of this application
Physical and Environmental Conditions:
Periods of outdoor work may be required in snow, rain, or extreme heat. Protective clothing may be required such as hats, gloves, boots, snow cleats, and winter jacket.
Probationary Period:
You may be required to serve a 90-day probationary period upon appointment .
Motor Vehicle Operation:
(IMPORTANT) You should possess a current valid NY State driver’s license at the time of appointment as a potential duty in the near future will be to operate and oversee a Patrol Vehicle.
Computer Systems:
You will be required to use the computer and maintain access to needed computer systems and email account as necessary. You will be required to closely monitor your email before and during your shift for important messages from the Supervisor or Director, reading and/or posting BOLOs, handling all tasks.
Report Writing:
You will be required to access the proprietary Incident Management System to help generate Incident Reports. You will work with the Shift Supervisor to do so.
Shift Work/Overtime:
You will be required to work on a shift basis and perform overtime if needed on the rare occasion that forced OT is necessary per needs of the department and the safety of fellow officers to maintain minimum levels of staffing. All attempts will be made to seek volunteers first and avoid this involuntary assignment but due to emergencies it may happen on the rare occasion.
Patrolling:
The new model of Campus Safety Department has an emphasis put on experienced patrolling. General Campus Safety Officer duties include the following: 1. Informs and warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles. 2. Provides safety escorts for visitors, students, staff, and faculty, as necessary; provides other public assistance, such as lockout services, jump-starts, and routine information. 3. Watches for and reports irregularities, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations; contacts emergency responders, such as police, fire, and/or ambulance personnel (EMS) , as required. 4. Remains alert for the presence of unauthorized persons and/or security code violators; approaches suspicious persons and/or notifies police as appropriate; in very rare circumstances may confront and/or detain violators, as required, until police arrive. 5. Performs periodic checks of emergency call boxes and/or street lights to ensure proper functioning; reports malfunctions as required. 6. Patrols and monitors assigned parking areas provide public security and assistance. 7. Maintains security controls for issued college keys; safeguards and controls issued University equipment. 8. Prepares routine, standardized reports. 9. May provide specialized security in an athletic complex operational area, requiring specific knowledge of the operating environment. 10. Serves as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the DOE Jeanne Clery Act (1992). 11. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Minimum Job Requirements
- Degree preferred, but High school diploma or GED accepted; Supervisory experience required.

This is NOT a direct hire by the College. The College is working with the contractor to also advertise the position but the contractor to whom you will be working for primarily provides the Campus Safety Officers at this site. - Must be able/willing to be hired by non-disclosed 3 party contractor to work at this site. Security vendor/employer will be disclosed at the time of interview.
- College, as the employment site, has direct connection with Security agency and can assist in your immediate hire with them but cannot guarantee 100% to have them hire you.
