Position Summary:

The Safety Manager will be responsible for overseeing all health and safety aspects across multiple active job sites in New York City. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations, maintaining company safety standards, and fostering a culture of safety throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and monitor safety programs, policies, and procedures in compliance with OSHA and NYC Department of Buildings regulations. Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement. Lead accident and incident investigations; prepare detailed reports with root cause analysis and corrective action plans. Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors to ensure site-specific safety plans are enforced and updated. Provide ongoing safety training and toolbox talks to field personnel and ensure all employees are up to date with certifications. Maintain all necessary safety records, including logs, reports, permits, and certifications. Serve as the point of contact during site visits by regulatory agencies and ensure timely response to any citations or recommendations. Promote a proactive safety culture by engaging field teams and encouraging reporting of near misses and potential hazards.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or related field preferred. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a safety leadership role within the heavy civil construction industry. OSHA 30 (required); CHST, CSP, or other safety certifications strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of NYC building codes, DOT, and OSHA regulations. Proven ability to lead safety initiatives across complex, high-risk construction environments.
