???? About the Role
We’re looking for a dedicated Manager, Public Safety, to join our team and help us continue delivering the level of care our patients and families deserve. In this role, you’ll be a vital part of our safety team, managing the daily operations of the Public Safety Department. You’ll assume responsibility for relaying the instructions of the Public Safety Director to Public Safety Department Shift Leaders, Charge Officers and all other staff while ensuring standing instructions and duties are carried out by all Public Safety Department employees. The Manager also assists the Hospital Safety Officer with addressing Environmental/Safety/Emergency Preparedness concerns.
???? What You’ll Do

Manage:

Represent the Department of Public Safety in the absence of the Director; participate in constructing Public Safety policy; create monthly staff meeting agendas and presentations; respond to after-hours calls for administrative decisions; participate in the employee evaluation process. You’ll hold public safety leads & charge officers accountable for all actions related to their assigned shifts. You’ll assist the Director in ensuring the safety & security management plans are updated annually. The Manager will play an important role in the annual security risk process assessments.
Human Resources partner: You’ll participate in or conduct interviews for new hires,plete employee performance evaluations, and document corrective actions.

Handle the team schedule:

The Manager administers workforce scheduling to ensure proper coverage and a stable work environment; authorizes overtime where appropriate. You’ll also administer payroll each pay period on behalf of the Public Safety staff. Act as a key contact with other departments: The Manager will attend multi-discipline meetings with other departments and outside organizations to further the Public Safety mission. You’ll be an active member of the Emergency Management & Environment of Care (EOC) Committees and will be expected to present safety & security reports to the EOC. This Manager will build Emergency Preparedness awareness and response capabilities and ensures life safety and emergency operations processes are in a continuous state of readiness in the event of an emergency through ongoing planning, training, exercise, testing, and awareness initiatives.

Manage equipment:

You’ll maintain Public Safety Department equipment, radios, etc., and will order supplies and equipment as needed on behalf of the department.
✅ What You Bring
A minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a security role is required, as is an active New York State Security Guard License.
Also required is a valid, clean New York State Motor Vehicle Operators License with no restrictions and proof that you are at least 21 years of age; this will allow you to obtain approval to drive as a covered driver on our Saratoga Hospital’s auto insurance policy. It is preferred that candidates bring an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Business Administration or a closely-related field.
Competitive candidates will have worked Security in a hospital environment. Strongmunication and teamwork skills are a must!
