HESS/Safety Manager

Job Summary:
The Health, Environmental, Safety and Security (HESS) Manager will be responsible for implementing and administering safety policies and duties as assigned including but not limited to:
Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for regulatory compliance with OSHA, DOT, RCRA, DoD 4145.26M, and DoD 5100.76M regulations and other federal, state, county and city regulations and codes
- Assess site and working conditions and perform monthly safety audits to prevent problems and maintain compliance
- Develop and maintain all Nammo Pocal safety programs and policies
- Plan and administer safety trainings, including monthly and periodic employee trainings
- Work with operations and HR with all accident investigations, including recording of near misses, accidents, and suggestions from employees
- Prepare written reports and procedures and work closely with other health, environmental and safety staff and consultants
- Requires knowledge, application and interpretation of various regulations as they pertain to industrial and explosives safety
- Responsible for conducting hazard analysis activities and implementing applicable environmental, health, and safety improvements
- Audit Inspections of hazardous and universal waste containers for regulatory compliance and hazardous waste profile conformance
- Perform audits of plant fire and lightning protection program which includes fire extinguishers inspection, maintenance, and replacement. Semi-annual LPS audits and recommendations
- Manage waste program including any pickup, testing, sampling and discharge
- Maintain risk management program including performing process hazard/Job hazard analysis
- Periodic review of production equipment and processes for ergonomics and guarding
- Maintain process safety management program and change management program
- Review work instructions and safety requirements
- Drive culture of psychological safety throughout the workplace
- Periodic travel may be required (Including Training)
- Other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree, ideally in health, safety, or environmental-related fields of study. Alternatively, a minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience in a EH&S role in chemical, manufacturing, and explosives industries, or have worked with explosives and have intimate knowledge of AE regulations for a minimum of 5 years.
- Proficient working knowledge of all MS Office Suite products
- 24-hour DOT Hazmat and 24-hour
RCRA HAZWOPER
certifications preferred (may be completed after hire)
OSHA 10 & 30
training (may be completed after hire)
- DoD 4145.26M certification (may be completed after hire)
- 49 CRF certification (may be completed after hire)
- Ability to prepare comprehensive written reports
- Excellent speaking and presentation skills with experience as an instructor preferred
- Knowledge of industrial work processes, materials handling techniques, and proper management of hazardous materials
- Ability to obtain Security ATF approval to handle our products
- Energetics experience performed in accordance with applicable regulations including compliance to DoD 4145.26M preferred
