Safety Director Job Description This position involves overseeing safety processes, collaborating with site teams, and driving a commitment to a zero-injury environment. The Safety Director will work closely with Foremen, Superintendents, and Project Managers to ensure the highest safety standards are met. Responsibilities Conduct project site inspections and comprehensive safety assessments to monitor progress and support project team members. Address and resolve safety issues promptly, making modifications to project plans as needed. Develop and implement safety training programs to educate employees on safety requirements and best practices. Coordinate and lead safety programs across multiple projects, planning and managing work to minimize risks and prevent injuries or property damage. Participate in inspections, incident investigations, and near-miss assessments, performing root cause analysis. Complete accident investigations, report findings to leadership, and recommend corrective measures. Identify project site risks and hazards, developing plans to mitigate future risks and enhance safety protocols. Provide regular updates to the senior leadership team on safety status, ongoing initiatives, and progress across multiple projects. Lead and implement health and safety strategies, staying up-to-date on relevant regulations and industry trends. Oversee compliance with company safety standards, ensuring they are adhered to across all sites. Essential Skills Safety and Construction expertise.
OSHA 500
certification. Experience in construction safety, particularly in heavy civil construction projects, with a minimum of 5-7 years. Additional Skills & Qualifications
OSHA 510
certification is desired. First Aid, CPR, and AED instructor certification is preferred. Strong leadership and organizational skills. Self-motivated with a strong attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively. Work Environment The work environment is predominantly in construction settings, overseeing multiple projects throughout the lowcountry. This position offers a $1,100 vehicle allowance and seeks someone capable of building out the safety program.
