We’re currently hiring a Safety Manager to support EHS oversight on a trench excavation and duct bank installation project in Charleston, SC . This mid-term contract is ideal for bilingual safety professionals experienced in excavation, confined space entry, and field-based safety compliance for heavy civil scopes.
Compensation:
Rate:
$45
- $49/hr (Local or Non-Local)
Per Diem:
$125/day (provided for days worked)

$150 per month (payable pending successful project completion)

PM Project Scope:
This position provides full-time safety oversight during installation of underground duct banks through trench excavations . The Safety Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance with trench safety, confined space entry procedures, and fall protection programs. This includes coordinating with subcontractors, conducting pre-task planning, and enforcing OSHA 1926 and project-specific safety standards.

- Excavation/Trenching Confined Space Entry Training Fall Protection AwarenessOversight 3+ years of relevant field safety experience
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct daily safety audits and monitor excavation/trenching activities Lead pre-job briefings and JSA/JHA reviews with field crews Oversee confined space entry and fall protection compliance Coordinate with site leadership and subcontractors to ensure safety protocols are enforced Maintain safety logs, incident documentation, and inspection reports Act as liaison between project teams and Sheakley EHS support staff
Skills:
In-depth understanding of trench safety, excavation hazards, and confined space protocols Familiarity with heavy civil construction and underground utility installation Strong communication, bilingual leadership, and documentation skills Ability to adapt quickly and make independent decisions in field-based environments
Knowledge Base:
Expertise in
OSHA 29 CFR
1926, competent person responsibilities, underground utility risk factors, PPE standards, and emergency response procedures. Experience on infrastructure or high-risk utility projects is strongly preferred.
