Job Title Site HSE Manager Job Description Role Overview Vanderlande Industries North America seeks a Site HSE Manager to lead safety initiatives on our Parcel and Amazon business projects. In this role, you will oversee the safety and compliance of installation projects for baggage handling, automation, and parcel sortation systems. Collaborating with full-time employees (FTEs), clients, contractors, and project teams, you will ensure adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements during all phases of engineering, procurement, construction (EPC), and commissioning. In this position, you will be working with the contractor and subcontractors HSE professionals, and the project teams to manage the safety and compliance of the installation of baggage handling, automation, or parcel sortation system. You will be responsible for the overall site management and ultimately for the safety of our high-quality installation, project teams, contractors, and subcontractors as they perform the project for our customers. You will promote Safe Base as a core value, ensure compliance with all VI HSE programs and requirements, and show leadership in promoting safety. Ensure that sites perform required periodic inspections, training, and documentation. This highly billable role (85%) is pivotal in maintaining enhanced safety outcomes, fostering trust, and ensuring a safer project environment while driving continuous improvement initiatives to reduce risks and ensure regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities Safety Leadership and Oversight:
Serve as the safety authority on-site for installation projects, ensuring compliance with Vanderlande’s HSE policies and applicable local, regional, and federal regulations.
EPC and Commissioning Management:
Leverage experience in EPC and commissioning to assess risks, implement safety strategies, and monitor compliance during all phases of project execution.
Collaborative Safety Management:
Partner with FTEs, clients, contractors, and project teams to identify and mitigate safety risks associated with baggage handling, automation, and parcel sortation system installations.
Team Leadership:
Lead and develop a team of contractors and subcontractors HSE professionals, and vendors creating leadership development plans, setting expectations, and driving core competencies in safety management.
Incident Management:
Investigate safety incidents on-site, ensuring thorough root cause analysis to identify preventative measures and eliminate future risks.
Root Cause Analysis:
Use structured methodologies to analyze incidents, safety metrics, and operational failures to drive corrective actions and improve processes.
Risk Reduction Initiatives:
Analyze conditional and ergonomic risks, implementing solutions to improve safety outcomes across project sites.
Auditing and Compliance:
Conduct frequent site audits, identify non-compliant equipment or processes, and implement corrective actions to eliminate exposure to risks.
Training and Knowledge Sharing:
Ensure site leadership, teams, and contractors are trained and knowledgeable about HSE policies and procedures. Audit the quality and effectiveness of all training initiatives.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
Utilize HSE metrics and incident trends to allocate resources effectively and drive accountability for corrective actions.
Emergency Preparedness:
Act as the designated first aid provider on-site and ensure the implementation of safety protocols. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree – Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health and Safety or related fields Certified Safety Professional (CSP), CHST or ASP. 5+ years of progressive experience in HSE, EHS, or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations. Must have thorough knowledge of US Construction Safety (29 CFR1926) and US General Industry Safety (29 CFR1910) Prefer a minimum 7-year safety experience and leading construction/installation projects.

Proficient use of computer and corresponding programs – Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Ability to implement behavioral-based safety techniques to improve/maintain safety performance. Ability to establish positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated experience with EPC, construction, and commissioning processes. Proficiency in implementing lean principles and process improvements in operational settings. Certifications Adult First Aid, CPR, AED certification required (must be obtained within three weeks of hire if not already certified).
