Safety / Environmental Manager (Manager HSEQ)

$130 – $145K plus bonus

Position Summary:

The Safety / Environmental Manager is responsible for ensuring full compliance with all applicable environmental and safety regulations, with a strong focus on regulatory reporting, employee safety training, and environmental performance. This position plays a key role in managing programs that govern air emissions, wastewater discharge, stormwater, hazardous waste handling, and site health and safety practices. The manager will lead the site’s HSEQ efforts while serving as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies and overseeing all compliance-related activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and maintain annual compliance plans to meet environmental regulations (air, water, waste). Serve as the primary point of contact for all environmental, health, safety, and regulatory inspections and inquiries (EPA, OSHA, DOT, etc.). Prepare and submit periodic reports required by federal, state, and local agencies, including EPA operating permits and documentation. Coordinate hazardous materials handling, storage, transportation, disposal, spill response, and remediation activities, including hazardous waste unit closure. Conduct fugitive emissions monitoring and ensure compliance with environmental standards. Manage health and safety programs to protect employees in accordance with OSHA and other relevant standards. Conduct and lead safety training, meetings, inspections, and audits; maintain all necessary records and documentation. Input environmental sampling and monitoring data into databases for audits and regulatory review. Maintain up-to-date technical resources, emergency response plans, and safety protocols. Drive a culture of safety through leadership, training, and daily engagement with plant personnel.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Safety, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 7+ years of HSEQ experience, preferably in a chemical manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and reporting (RCRA, EPA, OSHA, DOT, IATA). Proficient in wastewater, stormwater, waste management, and sampling procedures. Experience working with raw chemical materials and environmental reporting in an ethoxylation/emulsion plant preferred. Demonstrated ability to teach and promote safety culture throughout a team.

Certifications preferred:
CSP, DOT, IATA, HAZWOPER, CPR.

Strong computer and database skills for tracking compliance and reporting.

Work Schedule:

Monday – Friday, 4x10s schedule.

Team Structure:
