This position combines operational oversight, regulatory expertise, coaching, and strategic analysis to enhance driver performance, minimize risk exposure, and ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and internal safety standards. The Supervisor not only leads and mentors a team of Enterprise Safety Coordinators but also drives continuous improvement initiatives, interprets and leverages safety data, and partners cross-functionally to influence decision-making and process enhancements. This role is critical in strengthening organizational resilience and operational excellence through robust safety protocols and innovation in safety practices while adhering to internal procedures and applicable federal and state DOT and other agency regulations. Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing safety team to execute strategic objectives and instill a high standard of procedural discipline. Serve as a subject matter expert in DOT compliance, CSA scoring, and guide enterprise-wide initiatives to reduce incidents and liability. Oversee the integrity and effectiveness of safety systems. Partner with cross-functional stakeholders—Operations, HR, Legal, Training, and Fleet Maintenance—to develop enterprise safety strategies and resolve high-impact issues. Perform trend analysis and root cause investigations for driver behavior patterns; propose actionable insights and lead improvement projects. Champion a safety-first culture by communicating policies, celebrating safety wins, and fostering a transparent feedback environment across all levels. Evaluate and refine internal controls related to driver behavior compliance. Maintain professionalism and leadership presence in all communication channels including one-on-ones, group coaching, and executive briefings. Identify opportunities to leverage technology and automation to elevate the safety department’s impact and efficiency. Manage all reporting functions related to the position, oversee expirations, complete reviews, and provide coaching as necessary. Attend safety related classes including, but not limited to driver orientation, logs classes, train the trainer, PDP, Covenant Safe, driver skills testing, and road evaluations. Proficiency in company safety policies, CSA basics, hours of service, root cause determination, Covenant Safe, and effective driver coaching. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong time management skills. Excellent attention to detail. Ability to successfully adapt to a fast-paced and frequently changing environment. Ability to successfully communicate cross-functionally between company departments. Self-motivation is required for this position. Strong ability to prioritize tasks and efforts. Understanding and proficiency with multiple industry-related programs. Education/Experience Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain or similar field required. 1 year of relevant work experience may be substituted for each year of education required. 2+ years’ experience in transportation safety preferred. Prior experience working in safety systems or driver log systems is preferred.
