Assist in compliance reviews, general risk assessments and other safety assessments to support Health, Safety and Environmental management. Assists management in annual safety improvement goal setting. Maintain relevant HSE logs, documentation, and records. Assist in the compliance of applicable laws and regulations. Ensures compliance with parent company HSE directives. Prepare applicable HSE reports as necessary. Provide assistance and advice on HSE issues to make recommendations to facility management. Participate in detailed incident investigations, Root Cause Analysis, and identifying corrective actions. Provides management with safety loss trend data and analyses. Promote incident prevention for the benefit of employees and visitors. Assist in the development and presentation of relevant HSE training. Coordinate the establishment of corporate safety committee and ensure its continuation. Observe HSE regulations, wears all required safety equipment, encourages safe working practices, corrects obvious hazards immediately or reports them to the proper personnel. Ability to work with employees and achieve cultural change in the face of potential resistance. Maintain positive and proactive relations with manager and employees, as well as our customers and regulatory agencies. Comply with all GMI Company and HSE procedures and policies. Walk the manufacturing floor on a regular basis to establish HSE presence and provide support. Stop work authority and operations where imminent danger is evident. Conduct daily and monthly HSE meetings/trainings and schedule as needed. Write, implement, and manage HSE programs, policies, and procedures. Advises on the need for required safety certifications (i.e. forklift, crane, environmental hazard, first aid, etc.) Perform facility HSE Inspections. Oversee employee health/environmental monitoring and testing processes and reports (ex. Hearing conservation program, air sampling, etc.) Ability to evaluate PPE and ensure proper use and maintenance of PPE. Have knowledge and enforce compliance of regulatory requirements (i.e. OSHA, EPA, etc.), including company HSE policies and procedures. Assist in emergency response and provide first aid treatment. Oversee Behavior Based / Observation Safety Programs. Seek technical consultants when needed for matters related to HSE. Help develop Job Hazard Analysis (JHA). Up to 50% travel to other GMI locations for meetings, training, inspections, etc. Ability to oversee Safety Incentive Programs. Assist in administering and maintaining compliance programs such as Fall Protection, LOTO, Hazard Communication, EAP, Hearing Conservation, Hot Work, Respiratory Protection, BBP, etc. Perform additional duties as assigned by manager
EDUCATION & SKILLS REQUIRED
Associates degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, or six months to one year related experience and/or training preferably in OSHA related standards; or equivalent combination of education or experience. TRAVEL Up to 50% travel to other GMI locations for meetings, training, inspections, etc.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, write legibly and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
Crane license, forklift license (may be obtained during first 3 months of employment). GMI, Inc. unique training may be obtained during first 3 months of employment. Additional training will be provided as a part of Continuous Improvement and job position development.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee should have basic knowledge of PowerPoint, Excel, and all Microsoft software. They should possess the ability to proof read documents and presentations and self-correct as needed. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts, in outside weather conditions and is frequently exposed to wet, humid, extreme cold, and extreme heat conditions. The employee may be occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee will be required to wear protective clothing, gloves, hard hat, and respirator, as specified in the various processes and/or instructions. The employee will also be required to wear safety shoes and safety glasses. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
