Position Summary:
The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the facility’s compliance with environmental regulations, occupational health standards, and workplace safety policies. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring EHS programs and initiatives that promote a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment within a manufacturing setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety laws and regulations (OSHA, EPA, NFPA, etc.) Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations; recommend and implement corrective actions. Assist with the development and delivery of safety training programs for all levels of staff (e.g., PPE, lockout/tagout, hazard communication, machine guarding). Maintain and update SDS records and ensure proper labeling and handling of chemicals. Monitor air quality, noise levels, and other environmental hazards; support emission tracking and waste disposal compliance. Support emergency preparedness efforts, including evacuation drills, spill response procedures, and first-aid readiness. Collaborate with production, maintenance, and leadership teams to identify and mitigate workplace hazards and support continuous improvement initiatives. Maintain accurate documentation of safety programs, permits, inspections, and incidents. Promote a safety-first culture by leading safety committee meetings and encouraging employee involvement in safety initiatives.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 2-4 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting preferred. Knowledge of OSHA regulations, EPA requirements, and applicable health/safety codes. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and EHS management systems. Certification(s) such as OSHA 30, HAZWOPER, or CSP a plus. #
