ICEBOX PANTRY

Summary The FSQ Specialist is responsible for enforcing food safety protocols, verifying product quality and specifications, completing regulatory documentation, and conducting internal inspections. This role supports compliance with USDA, FDA, and internal company standards through hands-on activities, documentation, and monitoring. The FSQ Specialist plays a critical role in maintaining Icebox Pantry’s high standards of food safety and operational excellence. Responsibilities Inspect incoming food and protein products for quality, wholesomeness, packaging integrity, and adherence to purchase specifications. Monitor and document product temperatures during prep and production. Review and document product label accuracy, expiration dates, pre-shipment conditions, and other quality checkpoints. Maintain daily calibration records for thermometers and scales. Conduct daily pre-operational and operational inspections of all production areas for cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety compliance. Monitor inventory for slotting, date rotation accuracy, and appropriate storage conditions. Evaluate returned products for quality before re-entering inventory. Complete all required documentation related to USDA, FDA, and internal QA/FSQ programs. Participate in mock recalls, traceability exercises, and third-party audits. Monitor allergen controls and verify sanitation during changeover processes. Assist in training production staff on food safety and quality assurance procedures. Observe and record employee hygiene practices, including proper handwashing. Support ongoing improvement of FSQ systems by suggesting and implementing enhancements. Stay informed on current industry regulations and food safety trends. Ensure all documentation is audit-ready and maintained in an organized manner. Qualifications and Requirements High School diploma or GED required; Associate or Technical degree in Food Science or related field preferred. Minimum of 1 year of experience in food quality, food safety, or production operations (experience in

USDA/FDA

regulated facility preferred). Working knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, SOPs, and basic food safety regulations. Detail-oriented with strong organizational, observational, and follow-up skills. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Bilingual a plus (English and Spanish). Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and ability to manage digital records. Ability to work flexible hours and weekends as needed.
