Marine Environmental Health and Safety Technician Location:

Jacksonville, FL We are currently seeking an experienced Marine Environmental Health and Safety Technician to join our team in Jacksonville, FL. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in shipyard safety compliance, hot work permits, confined space entry permits, and extensive experience in DOD, naval shipyard, and naval station safety protocols

Responsibilities:
  • Implement and oversee safety protocols and compliance measures in a marine environment
  • Manage hot work permits and confined space entry permits to ensure safety during shipyard operations
  • Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify and address potential hazards
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees working in naval shipyard and naval station settings
  • Collaborate with management to ensure adherence to DOD safety regulations and standards
  • Investigate incidents and accidents, and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences
  • Maintain safety records and documentation in compliance with industry and regulatory requirements
  • Observe and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with company safety standards as well as all local, state, and federal guidelines
  • Work with emergency response team to address environmental incidents such as chemical leaks and spills
  • Identify and investigate environmental accidents or violations and propose corrective actions
  • Maintain inventory control and oversee shipping and transportation arrangements of hazardous material disposal
  • Educate workers on environmental health and safety procedures
  • Conduct daily deck plate safety walk with customer and work with crafts to correct deficiencies
  • Ensure that company, vendors, and employees are in compliance with the Global Harmonization System (GHS)
  • Inspect specified areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment, or first-aid supplies
  • Conduct job hazard analyses
  • Support all shifts and work additional hours as required
Requirements:
  • Three (3) years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of six (6) years of job-related experience pertaining to safety, environmental, and maritime industry
  • Minimum of a two (2) year degree in an environmental related field is strongly preferred
  • 24 Hour
HAZWOPER

training preferred

  • Knowledge of International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 14001 & OSHA 45001 is preferred
