As a Health & Safety Specialist , you’ll have the responsibility of leading all EH&S activities and insuring all responsible parties comply with federal state, and corporate requirements and codes. What you’ll do: Position reports to EHS Regional Manager and will include site-wide Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) duties as well as oversees Crisis Management, Training, Security, & Maintenance as related to compliance Leads, maintains & provides report out for all projects, and programs. Develops and submits cost plans for corporate approvals. Hosts regulatory inspections and performs internal audits, prepares reports as required. Ensures compliance with all applicable company requirements, and local, state, and federal laws (e.g., Lockout/Tagout; Haz Com; RCRA;
EPA:
OSHA, etc.) Assists the regional EHS Director in monitoring and developing EHS programs. Additional duties include supporting incident investigation, implementation of company safety standards and best practices, and providing information and metrics in support of achieving functional and business goals and objectives. Works with management to facilitate risk management decisions. Developing and facilitating training programs for all levels of the organization. Facilitate training using various methods of delivery, including in-person, virtual, or e-Learning based training. Performs accident investigations and conducts ergonomic assessments. Facilitates staff injury prevention and transitional Duty return-to-work program through accident and injury investigations, cause analysis, and corrective action plans. Collects and analyzes worker injury data. Review existing policies, programs, and initiatives to ensure EHS compliance as necessary. Monitor and evaluate the impact of new laws, regulations, and industry standards Ensure required records, permits, and reports are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines by company, local, state, and federal agencies. Profile waste streams, sign and maintain manifests, and compile environmental reporting (waste reports; Tier II; Form R; etc…) Implement, administer, and advise others on hazard control programs. Perform and document job hazard analysis, and coordinate activities to ensure corrective and preventative actions are implemented. Respond to day-to-day employee concerns in an appropriate and timely manner.
Requirements:
2+ years of experience of Environmental, Health, and Safety practices for General Industry Degree in Occupational Health & Safety/Environmental or closely related field Previous experience interfacing directly with employees, vendors, customers and the public 2+ years of experience working in an independent role or with minimal supervision 2+ years of experience with
Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook Preferred:
Ability to work effectively with others at all levels Strong communication skills required, both verbal and written Solution orientated candidate, with a keen eye for detail, whom enjoys problem solving Training and certifications preferred but not required: First Aid, CPR & AED, DOT, 30-hr OSHA, and Hazwoper (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response).
