Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Safety / HR Coordinator to support our trucking company’s compliance with all
FMCSA , DOT
, and company hiring requirements. This role is responsible for conducting new driver orientations, verifying required documentation, and ensuring all hiring and onboarding practices meet regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety & Compliance:
Ensure all new hires meet FMCSA and DOT qualification standards . Maintain up-to-date Driver Qualification (DQ) Files including licenses, medical cards, MVRs, drug test results, and background checks. Support the development and implementation of safety policies and training programs . Ensure that binders are done properly Human Resources /
Onboarding:
Conduct thorough driver orientations covering safety policies, company procedures, and regulatory requirements. Verify employment eligibility (I-9), prior employment checks , and background screenings. Work with recruiting to ensure qualified drivers are being selected and onboarded efficiently. Maintain accurate and organized employee files and HR records. Ensure all hiring documentation is complete and compliant.
Administrative & General Duties:
Support the operations and dispatch teams on safety-related matters. Generate and maintain safety and hiring reports for audits and inspections . Stay current with FMCSA regulations, DOT rule changes, and industry best practices .
Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in a safety, compliance, or HR role in the trucking or transportation industry. Working knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulations . Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and document management systems. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Bilingual (English/Spanish or other) is a plus. CDL class A is a plus
Work Environment:
Office-based with rare travel to terminals or driver locations. May require flexible hours during audits, incidents, or new hire surges.
