General EHS:

Develop and coordinate compliance with industry regulations and standards. Ensure effective development and delivery of all EHS related training and education programs. Maintain EHS training records. Collaborate with the teams in execution, monitoring, and continuous improvement of EHS programs. Apply technical knowledge to improve site EHS performance. Assist with identification, prioritization, and communication of site EHS risks including inspecting and evaluating the environment, equipment, processes and developing controls to eliminate or reduce the risk. Facilitate compliance with government regulations and industry standards. Actively engage and assist with operational changes to assess EHS impacts and communicate requirements to appropriate teams. Maintain and coordinate the EHS performance metrics, support preparation of reports to ensure that performance data is communicated to all applicable parties, internal and external. Coordinate responses to internal and external inquiries and concerns related to EHS.

Environmental:

Ensure industrial operations are compliant with local, state, and federal environmental regulations by interpreting standards, developing, and enforcing adherence to regulations, and advising management on needed actions. Generate environmental reports and maintain permits as per local, state, and federal regulations. Acts as liaison with government agencies, insurance carrier inspectors, serves as site environmental representative in case of inquiries and inspections to correct deficiencies and to minimize citations and fines for noncompliance. Tracks performance of air emission equipment within the facility through system checks, monitoring of maintenance activities (e.g., preventive maintenance inspections), and where appropriate recommendation repairs or improvements to dust and fume collection systems. Develop and implement environmental inspection policies and procedures; schedule routine inspections and audits to monitor environmental compliance. Participate in gathering data, performing necessary calculations, and summarizing required information into acceptable report formats for various monthly, biannual, and annual environmental reports. Lead and assist projects to reduce environmental aspects and impact from site operations; develop effective environmental strategies and review and recommend improvements to existing ones. Stay updated with environmental trends and legislation.

Safety:

Support completion of incident investigations, root cause analyses, developing action plans and maintaining records of closure of corrective actions; assist with maintaining the site’s

OSHA 300

Log and first aid documentation. Facilitate safety by training, mentoring and coaching others at the facility who have responsibilities for safety programs, safe work practices, and safety teams; assist with evaluation of risk and employee safety recommendations and complaints; assist with the identification and application of acceptable corrective measures. Observes workers and work practices, guide and promotes safe work performance by developing and preparing Job Safety Analysis (JSAs) or safety operating procedures and identifying equipment to be utilized based on regulatory compliance and corporate standards and implement accordingly. Conducting and/or coordinating industrial hygiene testing (and other testing as required) according to regulatory standards. Maintain exposure databases. Create sampling reports and action plans as directed. Ability to conduct respirator, noise, indoor air quality, ergonomics, chemical and other health surveys. Leading the Safety Committee for tours and meetings. Assist in developing corrective action items for safety tour findings, document findings, and follow up to ensure adequate and timely closure of the corrective action requests. Participates in the management of a behavior-based safety program throughout the facility. Adjust or modify the program to achieve maximum employee participation and results.

Minimum Requirements:

3-5 years related EHS experience. Must possess working knowledge of

OSHA/DOT/EPA

pertaining to Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations. Understanding of manufacturing processes, fabrication and metal machining a plus Demonstrated ability to lead / train others. Flexibility to transition to other shifts as needed for EHS activities such as training. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software

Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering or other related fields with emphasis in industrial safety programs or equivalent CSP or ASP, or other safety certification

Physical Requirements:

Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections. Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

The work environment is representative of those in both a standard manufacturing office environment and a standard machine shop/fabrication environment. Site’s environment typical exposure could include the following working conditions: extreme heat and cold, noise, oils, and atmospheric conditions such as dust, fumes and metallic particles. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; sit; bend; kneel; crouch (bend at knees); stoop; crawl; balance; walk; use hand/fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; repetitive motion; reach with hands and arms; reach above/below shoulder; reach to floor; lift from arm level: turn head sideways, up and down; good eye/hand/foot dexterity; climb ladders/stairs; and talk or hear.
