Safety and Complaince Technician 2.4 2.4 out of 5 stars Palatka, FL 32177 St Johns Ship Building, Inc. is a full-service shipbuilding and marine repair company that specializes in new construction and repair of commercial aluminum and steel vessels. Operations are conducted in a storm-protected 100-acre inland campus in the city of Palatka just 30 miles southwest of Jacksonville on the St. Johns River that provides direct access to the Atlantic Ocean. We are committed to providing top quality craftsmanship and personalized service by delivering vessels on time and on budget. The Safety & Compliance Technician assists with monitoring workplace activities to promote and ensure employee compliance with applicable safety regulations. Responsibilities Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems. Conducts employee training in absence of the safety officer on applicable safety standards. Conducts safety inspections in absence of the safety officer and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations. Inspects safety equipment; recommends replacements. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications One year of related experience preferred Knowledge of all applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards. Ability to conduct training. General computer and office skills needed Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Education and Certification Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or related field preferred. HS Diploma Required Health and safety certification is required.
