The Research Specialist in the Regenerative Engineering and Equity Laboratory supports laboratory research and assists the Principal Investigator in various lab functions, including conducting experiments, organizing the lab, ordering supplies, maintaining equipment, managing data, and contributing to writing grants, reports, and manuscripts. This position trains undergraduate and graduate students in lab skills and coordinates their schedules and work. This position ensures lab compliance with safety protocols and manages documentation for experiments.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Proficiency in biological lab techniques (e.g., aseptic cell culture, microscopy, immunohistochemistry, PCR, Western blotting).- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects or assignments simultaneously.
Experience in training junior staff and students in lab techniques.
Familiarity with lab management software (e.g., LabKey, Benchling) and
Special Required Ability for Incumbents Who Have Contact or Exposure to

Animals or Animal Tissues:

Ability to complete and pass successfully the required occupational health screening referenced in the University’s Animal Handler Health Surveillance Program on an annual basis. Required Background Check, Physical, and Drug Screening for Incumbents Who Have Contact or Exposure to

Animals or Animal Tissues:

Selected candidates must complete and pass a background check and an occupational health screening as a condition of employment. For identified jobs, a drug screening will also be required. The background investigation, required occupational health screening, and any required drug screening will be conducted after a conditional employment offer has been extended.

Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
3 years of directly related research experience.
3 years of directly related research experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency in data and image analysis using Excel, R, and other analysis software.
Experience with advanced lab techniques, such as cryopreservation, RNA isolation, immunoimaging, electrophysiology, and cytotoxicity assays.
Demonstrated experience in generating, characterizing, and maintaining small rodent animal models, including developing transgenic lines.
Expertise in scientific writing, data analysis, and grant management.
Experience in contributing to SOP development and ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory guidelines (e.g., IACUC protocols).
