Job Description
Safety Specialist Advanced Welding VI Macon, MO 63552 We are seeking a Safety Technician to support construction and facility upgrade projects within an active food and beverage manufacturing environment. The Safety Technician will assist in enforcing safety protocols, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and site-specific safety standards, and maintaining a safe work environment throughout all construction phases.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor daily construction activities to ensure compliance with safety procedures and regulatory requirements. Conduct site safety inspections, audits, and job hazard analyses (JHAs). Support enforcement of food safety and cleanliness protocols during construction work in GMP-controlled areas. Facilitate safety orientations and toolbox talks for subcontractors and labor crews. Report and document incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions; assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions. Maintain and update safety documentation, including permits, checklists, and inspection records. Ensure proper use of PPE and safe operation of equipment around live production zones. Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and facility EHS teams to align safety practices with operational needs. Support implementation of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, fall protection, and hot work programs.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or related field preferred. 3+ years of safety experience in construction or industrial environments; experience in food or beverage manufacturing is a strong plus. Knowledge of OSHA standards, GMPs, and construction safety regulations. Certifications such as
OSHA 500, 510
First Aid/CPR, or CHST are preferred. Strong communication skills and ability to interface with multiple stakeholders. Proficient in MS Office and digital safety management systems.
