This role is based on-site in either St. Louis, MO or Schenectady, NY , and requires travel to other US facilities.

Specific Responsibilities:

The EHS Compliance Specialist will also provide oversight to the trade compliance program and work with various stakeholders to verify legalities and accuracy of submissions. You will ensure effective implementation of applicable United States, Mexico, and Canada Regulations, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Advise senior management about trade compliance aspects and risks of proposed business decisions. Interpret International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administrations Regulations (EAR), Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR), and provide guidance on import and/or export related regulations. Provide guidance and interpretation of US government regulations including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR). ITAR and EAR Export License Management. ITAR Agreement Management. Prepare and manage export authorizations, including ITAR licenses, agreements and exemptions Coordinate the review and submission of USG application requests Analyze and interpret export and import regulations and maintain current knowledge of changes. Evaluate existing policies and procedures, identifying gaps and areas of improvement. Monitor compliance activities and effectiveness of third-party (e.g., freight forwarders, etc.) import/export controls. Oversee resolution of gaps and improvement opportunities. Perform functional audits of internal trade compliance policies and procedures. Prepare, review and approve technology control plans, and provide compliance support. Conduct assessment and analysis of potential risks and developing risk management strategies. Analyze transactions for which due diligence indicates potential risk & determine whether due diligence has been satisfied. Provide export shipping technical support for ad-hoc and other non-routine shipments. Maintain documentation and records required for corporate/state/federal regulatory compliance. Provide budgetary input to ensure emergency planning & process safety initiatives are adequately funded. Assist facilities and operations personnel in planning for compliance of new and modified processes resulting from internal or external changes (management of change).

Inspections / Audits

– Help conduct, coordinate and participate in EHS inspections and audits, including internal inspections, corporate, regulatory and customer audits. Education, Experience & Eligibility Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent education and experience with at least 7 years of business experience. 3-5 years of experience with export and/or import regulatory compliance. Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment is strongly preferred. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require sponsorship for employment visa status at any time.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Ability to prioritize, meet critical deadlines and work in fast paced environment Strong administrative skills: organization, time management, planning and problem solving The ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift 25 pounds, climb ladders, bend, kneel, stoop, and walk up/downstairs without assistance. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment to perform EHS assessments. Must be able to perform support activities in an operating chemical facility.

Work Environment:

5 days a week on-site Position requires office and field support. Successful candidate is expected to spend 80% of their time in the field. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Must be willing to travel 10-15% (All employees must be meet the minimum work requirements and be able to perform the position with or without a reasonable accommodation.)
