Job Description
EHS Specialist Steffes Solutions, LLC Shelby, NC 28150 The primary role of the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist is to monitor and evaluate EHS conditions and develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs and procedures. This position works in partnership with the EHS Team and other support teams to provide leadership, guidance, and hands-on support to reduce incidents, ensure compliance, and promote an EHS culture. This position will require a passion for EHS, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to maintain company and employee confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities:
Partner with multiple teams ranging from production to support functions to provide EHS support for day-to-day operations. Develop or update existing EHS programs and procedures as assigned to reduce incidents and/or ensure regulatory compliance. Maintain customer EHS compliance portals. Participate in risk assessments and making recommendations to reduce risk. Lead site-specific EHS improvement projects. Lead, develop, or coordinate EHS training. This includes EHS training as part of new hire orientation. Conduct routine workplace EHS inspections to identify workplace hazards. Conduct incident investigations to identify root cause and communicate key learnings from EHS incidents. Manage records and distribute documents. EHS related data collection, analysis, and trending. Generate various EHS reports as required by regulatory agencies (OSHA, EPA, Worker’s Compensation, etc.) Complete required training/certifications to be a site first responder. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in collaborative manner with customers, suppliers, co-workers, and management. Helps company meet its Strategic, Quality and Safety objectives. Other duties may be assigned.

Job Requirements/Qualifications Associate’s degree (minimum) or bachelor’s degree (preferred) in an EHS related technical, manufacturing, or engineering field. 2+ years’ experience in an EHS role, preferably in a manufacturing or fabrication environment. Comprehensive knowledge of applicable EHS regulations (OSHA, EPA, Worker’s Compensation, etc.). Certifications in a related field are a plus. Effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills. Self-driven, flexible/adaptable, and able to effectively manage time, priorities, and resources. Must possess strong decision-making skills and the ability to lead a project with minimal supervision. Demonstrated reputation as an influential leader and mentor in EHS. Must be willing to complete required training plan (OSHA 30-hr, First Aid/CPR/AED, etc.) Ability to maintain absolute integrity and discretion due to confidential and sensitive nature of information. Functional & Cognitive Requirements of Position:
This position requires walking, sitting, or standing to a significant degree. Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds from floor to waist, carry 50 pounds, and push and/or pull up to 20 pounds. Must have the ability to climb ladders and/or stairs. Stooping, crouching, kneeling, and bending. Handling, feeling, and gripping would be required for some activities. Visual acuity is required to inspect work completed. This role may be subject to internal and external environmental conditions.
