Job Purpose:
The Safety Sr. Specialist applies their scientific and practicalknowledge of the Safety compliance field in order to innovate,design, and improve systems, processes, equipment, and tools intheir assigned areas to improve the Safety characteristics inalignment with daily operations, new model, business plan, and/orinnovation to achieve or exceed targets and promote safetyexcellence.
Key Accountabilities:
Lead department Plant themes and complex improvementprojects. Proactively cycle Plan Do Check Act (PDCA) to reduce injuriesand hazards and ensure continuous improvement of safetycharacteristics of assigned areas Leverage Safety expertise to support Plants and DepartmentLeaders, production safety advocates and/or safety committees toachieve self-sustaining safety culture and high level of safetyperformance. Accurately interpret and apply the Honda Safety Managementmanual including North America ( NA) and Honda DevelopmentManuafacturing America policies and procedures. Participate in PlanDo Check Act (PDCA) of policies and procedures based on technicalexpertise Perform and document complex safety compliance activityincluding risk assessments, ergonomic studies, and process andequipment innovation. Detailed presentation and reporting of safety activities andresults including complex data analysis and trending Develop personal technical expertise and professionalskills
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety andHealth, Athletic Training, Health Sciences or other safety andhealth program or equivalent related experience 2+ years of safety experience or equivalent Honda manufacturingexperience Achievement of professional certification such as AdvancedSafety Certificate, Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician,Certified Safety Professional, Safety Management Specialist. Interpersonal relationship skills Detailed understanding of major health and safety regulationsand injury/illness prevention strategies Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization Verbal and written communication skills Open to mentorship guidance for personal skill growth Experience using Microsoft Office products Strong planning and prioritization skills Advanced data analysis and problem-solving skills Complex understanding of business plans, budgeting and costreporting. Expertise with root cause analysis and implementation ofcountermeasures
