Community Development Specialist I State of North Carolina – 3.4 Raleigh, NC Job Details Full-time $45,926 – $80,369 a year 1 day ago Benefits Travel reimbursement Qualifications Writing skills Mid-level Microsoft Office 3 years Administrative experience Full Job Description JOB Program DevelopmentProvide research, direction, oversight and coordination for one or more assigned statewide highway safety program areas. This includes serving as staff contact to statewide task forces on impaired driving, occupant protection and other traffic safety issues, in partnership with GHSP staff and State and local agencies, and other traffic safety advocates implementing programs identified in the Highway Safety Plan.

Provide information and support for preparation of assigned Section 405 Incentive application(s) to receive funding for highway safety programs in North Carolina.

Manage task force member lists and informationManage needs assessments to determine specific problems and priorities to be addressed through grant programs and task force recommendations.

Develop countermeasure strategies targeted at resolving problems indicated by the problem identification process and provide those strategies to task force members.

AdministrationAssist Director in administrative activities, policy outreach and coordinationAssist the Director in coordinating policy meetings, travel, scheduling and other tasksAssist the Director in completing travel requests, reimbursements and other essential documentsOther DutiesManage and direct special programs as assigned by the Director. Direct the development of committees, task forces and work groups to address emerging traffic safety issues.

Initiate and coordinate meetings with non-traditional agencies and organizations regarding partnerships on assigned program(s) and other traffic safety issues.

Attend GHSP sponsored events.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Applicants must submit an application that clearly reflects work experience that demonstrates the following: Demonstrated ability to interpret and communicate verbally and in writing details of policies, procedures, and regulations. Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule and carry out work assignments effectively with minimal supervision. Experience with managing projects, administrative tasks, policy research, including programmatic and financial aspects. Experience with computers and business software including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and/or databases. Demonstrated ability to establish working relationships with all levels of external partner agencies to implement collaborative programs.

Additional Expectations:

•Selected applicant must be able to lift up to 20 pounds •Position requires travel (sometimes overnight) for conferences and work events
