Full Job Description Job Summary:
We are currently seeking an experienced, self-starter, goal-oriented, candidate to fill the role of HSE Safety Specialist working at a project site with AMECO in Holly Springs, NC. This position supports the AMECO project and personnel with safety inspections, project planning, employee training, and other safety and health services. This individual must possess a high level of organization and time management skills. Must be able to effectively communicate with various audiences as well as people at different levels within the project organization. This individual reports directly to Site/Operations Management. Other areas of focus would include engaging in outreach programs within the community that support the goal to be inclusive and our desire to improve the communities in which we live and work.
Responsibilities are as follows:
Lead Safety Champion project sites Beyond Zero Injury culture Understand the project schedule for risk planning. Ensure effective understanding, communication and consistent reinforcement of both project and AMECO safety expectations and objectives. Project Communications & Engagement Develop and Manage relationships at all levels including projects/craft, project leadership, safety peers and AMECO corporate. Ensure to develop and cultivate relationships external to AMECO, including subcontractors, regulatory entities, medical service providers and other appropriate vendors. Attend /Participate in Industry/Regulatory Trade Groups Trend and Benchmark Safety Performance – Monitor/Review Fieldview/Viewpoint/Occucare reports Develop Action Plans for Project Safety Performance Participate and provide guidance in Project related Safety Committees Consistent presence on projects – Timely response to project questions or issues Lead/ Participate in the Project Best Practice Meetings, Huddles, POD, WWP, etc. Ensure consistent communications and timely delivery of internal projects and tasks. Jobsite Management Work with Project Management teams on job site safety planning, including but not limited to the following: Maintains site-wide HSE programs and policies Participates in assigned or required project-directed construction safety meetings. Coordinate and/or administer safety orientations for new personnel. Assures timely investigations, inspections, and reporting of HSE matters within the area assigned or project. Weekly site safety inspections, trend identification and correction Maintains records, reports, and documents to meet company or regulatory requirements. Complete Jobsite Walks – Enter Observations Ensure understanding of project needs by individual engagement of project staff. Lead comprehensive incident investigations of project incidents that may result in litigation; obtain and protect collected data. Training Development and implementation of safety programs: Training programs focusing on the specific needs of a project. Monthly New Hire training, including Fall Protection and equipment training. Development of safety toolbox talks Hazard Recognition tools & skill development Mentor and assist project staff, co-ops provide support during new hire onboarding.
Compliance / Risk
Management Provide safety knowledge/expertise to ensure consistency in safety policies and procedures throughout the project. Manages environmental issues. Conduct/Coordinate IH Monitoring for silica, noise, asbestos, lead, mold, etc. Assist AMECO personnel in the development, revision and implementation of new or updated policies, procedures or task-specific work instructions. Ensure proper risk assessment has been completed, risks defined and communicated to decision-makers. Participate as or call upon internal SMEs for project aspects requiring task-specific consultation. Ensure emergency response systems, policies and procedures are in place to manage emergencies. Communicates effectively with representatives of regulatory agencies/customers to resolve compliance issues and provide requested information. Provide data analysis and reports, regulatory interpretations and guidance on all safety and health policies and programs of critical importance to overall AMECO and Project objectives. Partner with the project staff to interpret, evaluate, and provide technical guidance on project safety requirements, accident investigation, and implementing corrective action measures. Administrative functions include but not limited to: Completion of paperwork, associated with safety inspections, accident/incident follow-up, OSHA inspections, employee training, safety orientations. Tracking of safety equipment distributed to the job sites.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or related field 3 – 5 years of leadership experience in construction safety
OSHA 500, 510 OSHA 30
hr. certification Technical working knowledge of OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations Practical experience in employee safety training Excellent oral and written communication skills Proficient in
