Job Summary:
The Sanitation and Set-Up is responsible for the sanitation in ensuring that all production equipment, lines, and work areas are cleaned and sanitized in accordance with food safety standards and production schedules. Additionally, this role works in preparation and set-up of equipment for upcoming production runs to ensure timely and efficient start-ups.
Key Responsibilities:
Sanitation Oversight:
As one of the sanitation team you will be ensuring cleaning and sanitizing of equipment, tools, and production areas. Ensure all sanitation activities meet or exceed company, SQF, FDA, and/or GMP standards. Maintain sanitation logs, checklists, and documentation in compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements. Conduct inspections and verify cleaning effectiveness (ATP swabs, visual checks, allergen testing). Coordinate with QA/QC to release lines for production after sanitation. Ensure proper use of cleaning chemicals, PPE, and equipment.
Production Set-Up:
Pre-operational equipment set-up for all shifts to ensure readiness and functionality. Verify correct assembly of equipment based on production schedule and product specifications. Troubleshoot minor mechanical issues during set-up and coordinate with maintenance as needed. Collaborate with production and maintenance departments to ensure smooth line start-ups.
Team Leadership & Training:
Train team members on sanitation procedures, safety protocols, and equipment assembly. Monitor team performance and provide coaching and feedback. Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Inventory & Supplies:
Monitor sanitation chemical inventory and cleaning supplies. Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained and stored properly. Order supplies as necessary to avoid shortages or downtime.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or GED required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred.
Experience:
MUST HAVE 2-4
years of experience in food or beverage manufacturing sanitation. Knowledge of cleaning procedures for CIP (Clean-in-Place) and COP (Clean-out-of-Place) systems is highly desirable.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of sanitation procedures, food safety standards (GMP, HACCP, SQF, etc.), and regulatory requirements. Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with food processing equipment. Effective communication and team leadership skills. Ability to read and interpret production schedules, sanitation SSOPs, and equipment diagrams. Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.
