Job Description:

The Environmental Health Safety (“EHS”) Manager – Distribution Center (“DC”) role at OSJL plays a crucial role in safeguarding the safety and well-being of our warehouse associates. This role involves developing and implementing comprehensive EHS strategies, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a positive safety culture. By building trust, providing training and support, and conducting thorough investigations, the EHS Manager contributes to a safe and efficient work environment across all distribution locations.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop, implement and oversee safety guidance, strategies and training to reduce the occurrence of incidents, injuries, and illnesses as well as to ensure compliance with all applicable

standards. Perform EHS assessments to identify compliance gaps and improvement opportunities. Develop, implement, and monitor Safety Improvement Action Plans to drive accountability as well as decrease incident, injury, and illness. Supervise incident and injury response including, but not limited to, completion of root cause analysis. Partner with cross-functional teams (i.e., Asset Protection, Risk Management, and Distribution Center Operations) to investigate reported incidents, identify root causes, and provide recommendations to prevent injuries and safety-related incidents. Oversee the Distribution Center’s response to significant safety incidents. Serve as the on-site incident commander in the event of a severe injury. Develop and implement a comprehensive Powered Industrial Truck Safety and Training program for associates. Possess a comprehensive understanding of

standards and relevant safety laws and regulations, including, but not limited to, EPA, FDA, NFPA, and OSHA. Partner with the Director of EHS to provide guidance in the event of an investigation or compliance actions from regulatory agencies. Collaborate with the Director of EHS to analyze incident frequency data and develop mitigation plans and address emerging trends. Develop and distribute weekly safety communications for all DC associates. Conduct job hazard analysis to identify, assess, and develop solutions that improve safety and reduce workplace risks. Manage and provide support for compliance with the Food Safety Modernization Act. Partner with the Director of EHS to evaluate and implement best practices for personal protective equipment usage among DC associates. Collaborate with the Facilities team to ensure full compliance with insurance requirements and provide necessary follow-up. Support crisis response efforts as needed. Manage associate performance, write performance reviews, and provide coaching as well as feedback. As needed, delegate work and follow up with team members to confirm timely completion of tasks. Assist with hiring new team members, training new team members, and acting as a mentor to coach and develop new teammates.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required. A degree in Occupational Health & Safety is preferred. 5 or more years of experience working with safety programs in a retail, supply chain, or manufacturing environment is required.

Preferred Certifications:

Certified Safety Professional and OSHA 30-hour General Industry. 2 or more years of supervisory experience is preferred. Experience with project management and data analysis is preferred. Demonstrated ability to clearly present information to stakeholders and influence change. Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a clean driving record. Proficient in MS Excel and Google platforms (i.e., Sites, Slides, Drive, Docs, Sheets).

Work Environment:

Works primarily in a DC environment. While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be exposed to outside weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and electrical components. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Some work in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety and health hazard potential. Some sedentary work and near vision use for reading and computer use. Intermittent travel (less than 10%) to other OSJL distribution locations is required.
