Basic Job Functions:
The role of the Safety Paramedic & EMT Trainer is to provide leadership and support to the safety and health functions across the division. This person will conduct monthly in-service training for our onsite EMTs and First Repsoneders and ensure compliance for our onsite industrial ambulance services. The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to: Growing long term sustainable relationships to drive continuous improvement in safety culture, performance, and safety systems. Develop, communicate, and implement strategies and plans to support Nucor’s challenge of “becoming the world’s safest steel company”
Interpret and apply regulatory consensus standards (OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, etc.)
Build and facilitate effective safety and health processes, management systems, and training that drives hazard recognition and prevention
Conduct safety visits, audits, and observations
Oversee and coordinate training and support for the Emergency Response Team
Perform routine and non-routine administrative tasks. This includes but is not limited to inspections, record keeping and various onsite testing. The candidate must be willing to work required hours, including flexibility for non-daylight shifts, and to be on-call in emergency situations 24/7. This candidate must be willing to travel for safety meetings, audits, and best-marking. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
National Registered EMT
- Paramedic Level
Safety related experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
Knowledge and experience in worker’s compensation
Prior Safety leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
