Occupational Health & Safety Full Job Description Position Summary:

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for promoting and ensuring a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace. This role supports the implementation and continuous improvement of Environmental, Health, and Safety programs, ensures compliance with applicable regulations (OSHA, EPA, local, and state), and drives a safety culture through training, audits, incident investigation, and employee engagement.

Key Responsibilities:
Compliance & Documentation :

Ensure site compliance with federal, state, and local EHS regulations. Maintain safety records, logs, permits, MSDS/SDS, and required documentation. Prepare reports for internal and external regulatory agencies. Responsible for audit participation when necessary and serving as the point of contact for records requests. Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments. Identify hazards, unsafe conditions, and recommend corrective actions to site leaders.

Training & Communication:

Enforces safety standard operating procedures within the building and counsels employees found to be in violation of safety procedures. Works with assigned management to properly document incidents. Conducts, coordinates, and designs all necessary safety training (e.g., PPE use, Lockout/Tagout, Hazard Communication). Lead and implement a new hire safety orientation process. Needs to be familiar with standardization processes that comply with ISO standards and OSHA compliance when producing training records.

Incident Management:

Respond to and investigate safety incidents, near misses, and environmental events. Responsible for accident report completion and Postmortem accident root cause analysis to best analyze safety trends and best practices to avoid unsafe behavior in future instances. Serve as SME for accident reporting procedure(s), including training and follow up process for management when completing the process.

Environmental Compliance:

Monitors and reports environmental metrics, including waste disposal, emissions, and spill prevention. Assist with hazardous waste management (if required) and environmental reporting.

Culture & Engagement:

Promote a proactive safety culture through employee involvement and recognition. Designs and implements a process for safety recognition within the facility. Lead safety committee meetings and initiatives. Conduct weekly toolbox talk training at standup meetings to spread awareness in a production environment. Serve as a liaison between employees, supervisors, and management on EHS matters.

Qualifications:

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or Safety Management Systems. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification strongly desired or equivalent of 6 years of experience in this area. Experienced as a safety trainer or safety facilitator in a classroom setting. Required to administer and maintain records of forklift/truck training process. Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, local/state and other regulatory requirements. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety management software. Preferred Certifications (Not Required): Train the Trainer Certification OSHA 30-hour or

OSHA 511

First Aid/CPR Certified

HAZWOPER

Certification Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar credential required.

Working Conditions:

Primarily on-site in a manufacturing environment. May require occasional lifting, standing, and exposure to noisy environments. Use of PPE as required by safety protocols. Why Choose Us?
