Communications & Marketing Coordinator – Environmental Health and Safety – UTK 4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars Knoxville, TN The Environmental Health & Safety Department is accepting applications for an exempt Communications & Marketing Coordinator. This position reports to the Assistant Director of the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Department. This position will shape perceptions, foster relationships and effectively convey messages that contribute to the success and sustainability of the organization. This position will ensure that messages are conveyed clearly, concisely, and effectively to target audiences, both internally and externally. The clarity provided by this position will help prevent misunderstandings and confusion which will contribute to a mature safety culture. The position will work to maintain and enhance the organization’s brand reputation by crafting messages that align with its values and goals. The incumbent will facilitate internal EHS communication ensuring employees are informed, engaged, and aligned with the department’s vision and objectives. Tasks will vary from day to day; however, this position may decide how tasks are to be met largely within the confines of defined policies, procedures, and standards. A quantity of work tasks requires coordination/collaboration with UTK partners that include, but not limited to, UTPD PIO, Facilities Services, Creative Communications, and UT System OIT. Crisis management will be conducted in partnership with the Public Safety Public Information Officer (PIO). Leading creative strategies for marketing campaigns and initiatives, analyze data and adjust to improve engagement Produce high-quality visuals to enhance brand storytelling and audience engagement Plan, design, and develop content for marketing, advertising, graphic design, multimedia, public relations, website design, and social media Participate in strategic planning to enhance digital presence Perform a variety of training, education, and information delivery tasks that follow set policies and procedures essential to university compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations as well as University branding and creative communications. Prepare and deliver specialized technical information, provide internal and external customer service, and provide technical support to the EHS team Maintain detailed knowledge of university policies, principles, and EHS strategies, and stay updated with campus developments by building relationships with campus communicators and key external partners Partner with the training manager to translate complex technical information for easy consumption by target audiences Provide cross-functional support to EHS department disciplines as needed
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in communication studies; marketing; or public relations and 3-years’ experience in communications or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
Master’s degree in communication studies; marketing; or public relations and experience working in a university or higher education environment.
