Environmental, Health, and Safety Coordinator 2.5 2.5 out of 5 stars 615 New Highway 68, Sweetwater, TN 37874 The EHS Coordinator role will lead the Sweetwater facility in all matters of environmental, health, and safety, covering manufacturing processes such as glass handling/tempering, screen printing, wastewater treatment, tooling, and many other functional support teams. The EHS Coordinator will proactively provide innovative common-sense EHS solutions, simplify & standardize EHS policies, and drive cost improvement initiatives with all items related to EHS. This leader will deliver best-practice solutions, ensuring team members’ safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental sustainability.
Responsibilities:
Hands-on leader who effectively monitors and manages all regulatory correspondence, documentation, reporting, permitting, policy creation, and certifications, including ISO standards. Proactively and collaboratively identifies, develops, and implements practical policies to ensure associate health and safety while maintaining compliance with OSHA regulations. Ensures that the EHS corporate vision is upheld at every level of the organization. Acts as a transformational change leader, focusing on improvements in EHS-related technology, eliminating non-value-added EHS business processes, optimizing existing EHS procedures, and standardizing the QEHS (Quality, Environmental, Health, and Safety) Integrated Policy to consistently deliver high levels of safety, sustainability, and associate satisfaction at the best cost. Aligns with EHS corporate policies and drives continuous improvement in environmental sustainability through initiatives such as recycling, solid waste reduction, net zero water discharge, hazardous waste elimination, and minimizing accidental discharge risks. A solid foundation in wastewater treatment is a plus. Ensures regulatory compliance and associate safety by developing standardized requirements for new process and equipment design and acceptance criteria, ensuring consistency in how manufacturing processes are engineered, documented, and maintained. Supports and leads the incident investigation process on-site, providing the final incident report to HR, which will handle the workers’ compensation claims for all accidents. Conducts job safety analyses for all new equipment, chemicals, and employee interface points. Ensures the organization, storage, and maintenance of health, safety, and environmental files and records. Manages the Emergency Response Plan and all related activities. Performs other duties as assigned. Ensures that the site is safe for everyone and environmentally friendly.
Educational & Training Requirements:
Associate’s degree from a technical discipline, or equivalent knowledge/experience Wastewater Treatment is a plus. 3-5 years’ experience with EHS oversight of hazardous chemicals and waste management. Understanding of Accident First Response, wastewater handling, containment, and audit/corrective action. TDEC wastewater operator certification, CPR, and advanced safety certifications (CSP). Able to collect, analyze & interpret data to develop insightful solutions, and present in a clear & concise format while understanding the appropriate details for each audience. Strong knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations, OSHA requirements, ISO standards, and relationship management.
