The Fire Suppression Lead aims to ensure that the product or service we provide is fit for the intended purpose, is consistent, and meets both external and internal requirements. This includes legal compliance and customer expectations. The Fire Suppression Lead will assist in coordinating and preforming the activities required to meet NFPA standards, oversees the Fire Protection System programs through inspections and evaluations of the fire protection, equipment, and processes in working areas to ensure compliance with government safety regulations and industry standards. Identify potentially in-house or sub-contractor services and recommends. Also investigates equipment failures to identify their causes and find ways to prevent them in the future. The Fire Suppression Lead also monitors and advises on the performance of the project sites preventive maintenance programs, produces data and reports on performance, measuring against set standards. Responsibilities Perform Inspections, identify problem areas that require Corrective and Preventive Actions Activities. Perform audits of work sites to include verifying management of preventive maintenance of fire suppression systems. Preparation and Documentation of PM plans, policies, procedures and summaries. Implementation, maintenance, and documentation of the organizations fire suppression systems programs. Collect and input data from various sources into electronic spreadsheets for graphing and trending. Perform training programs, audits and inspections at job sites as needed, Independently inspects standardized procedures, items, operations and/or contract requirements for compliance. Independent record keeping and preparation of reports, inspection and testing, Interpretation of plans, contracts and specifications and observation of activities to check adherence to quality, safety, and contract practices and requirements at job site. Assist other departments and sites in meeting contract requirements, as required. Monitor system tests and repair fire alarm wiring, panels, and additional equipment as needed. Identify problems or defects in the fire systems and implement adjustments and repairs. Stay up to date on appropriate diagnostic programs and equipment. Ensure all fire systems and repair work is in accordance with relevant codes and requirements. Update and maintain fire suppression testing documentation. Assist with equipment (RPIE) inventories. Other duties/tasks as assigned. Education and/or Work Experience Requirements High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED), 2-4 years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent in education and experience, Knowledge and technical experience with fire alarm systems, Knowledge of current fire codes and standards – i.e., NFPA, UFC, IFC, ADA, TJC, maintain a current NICET Level II Certification in Fire Protection Engineering Technology (Fire Suppression System or Inspection and Testing of Fire Suppression Systems) or higher. Maintain a valid state-issued driver’s license, work independently and under stressful conditions involving deadlines, Ability to adapt quickly to changes in working environment, Ability to read, write, and comprehend specific instructions and guidance, Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and customers, perform simple mathematical equations in all units of measure – fractions, decimals, rates, ratios, percentages, and graphs, Ability to independently problem solve. This is a traveling position with up to 75% of travel time.
