Full Job Description Position Summary:
Palm House Hotel is seeking a dedicated and experienced Security Manager to oversee all aspects of property safety and guest security. This role is essential in ensuring a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for guests, staff, and visitors. The Security Manager will lead and train the security team, implement security protocols, and collaborate closely with hotel leadership to maintain compliance and respond to incidents with professionalism and urgency.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily operations of the hotel security department, ensuring 24/7 coverage and response readiness. Develop and enforce safety and security protocols in alignment with Palm House standards and local regulations. Monitor security systems including CCTV, key card access, fire alarm panels, and emergency response equipment. Conduct regular property walks to identify safety hazards and ensure secure access points. Respond to emergency situations, incidents, and disturbances in a calm and professional manner. Train and schedule security staff; provide coaching, performance feedback, and professional development. Coordinate with local law enforcement, emergency responders, and hotel leadership as needed. Prepare incident reports, maintain records, and conduct internal investigations when necessary. Collaborate with HR and operations on employee and guest safety matters, including lost and found and workplace conduct issues. Ensure compliance with all applicable safety laws, fire codes, and hotel policies.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in hotel or hospitality security, with at least 1 year in a leadership role. Proven knowledge of safety protocols, emergency response, and security systems. Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to de-escalate situations calmly and professionally. Ability to lead a team, provide clear direction, and manage performance effectively. Experience working with local law enforcement and emergency services is a plus. CPR and First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain). Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts as needed.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time (up to 8-10 hours per shift). Ability to lift, push, or pull objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Must be able to climb stairs, respond to emergencies quickly, and conduct routine property inspections across the hotel grounds. Capable of working indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Must have the ability to remain calm and act swiftly in high-pressure situations.
