Job SummaryThe Security Manager provides professional security leadership for the department in order to fulfill its mission of having a safe, secure and protected environment for patients and their families, employees and visitors. Manages the daily operations of the hospital security department to ensure alignment with departmental and organizational objectives. Maintains efficient and effective departmental operations while ensuring compliance with all Joint Commission, state, federal and local regulatory laws, standards and protocols. Investigates, creates and implements training programs (both departmental and hospital wide) and specific duties and responsibilities in the Security Department. Maintains working knowledge of loss prevention/detection and protection of persons/assets. Manages budgets. Assists in the preparation and implementation of annual budget reports and keeping within FRMC financial parameters. Upholds awareness and understanding of healthcare security regulatory standards. Assures that security operations are compliant with all applicable federal, state and local ordinances and regulatory agency standards. Participates in the planning and execution of emergency preparedness efforts. COMPANY DESCRIPTIONFrye Regional Medical Center, located in the beautiful foothills of North Carolina is a 355-bed acute care hospital, 81-bed Behavioral Health facility and more than 70 primary and specialty care providers. Essential FunctionsOversees all responsibility for the staffing functions and programs at FRMC Health such as: screening, hiring, education and retraining of personnel, competency evaluations, performance reviews, job descriptions, work schedule and time cards, wage and salary application, promotions to promote service excellence.
Provides professional leadership in the development of operational improvement processes and the reporting of those activities within assigned facilities impacting FRMCAssists with preparation and implementation of annual budgets in keeping with FRMC budget parameters.
Develops and implements the security policies and procedures to help assure departmental compliance with organizational goals; applicable federal, state, and local ordinances; and regulatory agency standards.
Evaluates all assigned FRMC properties assessing risk, based on internal and external activity. Reports security audits with recommendations to assigned facility administrators.
Assists in planning and creating security related programs and presentations to assist in the protection of persons and property at FRMC. This includes newsletters, crime trend analysis, re-education modules and specialized security related programs for specific personnel.
Manages budgets. Assists in the preparation and implementation of annual budget reports and keeping within FRMC Health financial parameters. Conducts internal investigations involving security personnel. Investigates all incidents (to include civil, external and proprietary investigations).Educates all personnel within the Security Department on intelligence matters.
Develops and issues BOLO (Be On Look Out) notices as needed to assist in detection and apprehension of suspicious subjects on FRMC properties.
Acts as liaison to outside agencies (such as Police Departments, US Government agencies, other security companies) in a supportive role when FRMC properties are involved.
Acts as liaison to HSC Corporate Departments and FRMC Administration in a supportive role when FRMC properties are involved.
Assists with presentations, programs and security audits and inspections of FRMC properties.
Provides Executive Protection for FRMC both as a leader and as a team member. Lead project teams consisting of a wide range of personnel in all facets of security.
Maintains staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction, and conflict management.
Determines and justifies needs for system/equipment/supplies purchases, monitors usage, and oversees proper working order and/or stock supplies.
Demonstrates knowledge of investigative procedures, de-escalation techniques, hospital security, infant abduction and protection mechanisms.
Maintains and participates in performance improvement activities within the department.
Assures competency of all personnel.
Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
Performs a variety of assessments to determine or recommend protective actions required for safeguarding patients, visitors, employees, providers, and the community.
Designs and implements training programs pertaining to matters of safety and security.
Responds to emergency and disaster situations involving hazardous materials, inclement weather, evacuations, and/or sheltering to aid and assistance with coordinating county resources.

Certifications:
BLSHandle with Care instructor (within 1 year of hire or transfer into the position) Minimum Work Experience1-3 years of security, law enforcement or military experience required.
Experience within fully integrated hospital system security division is preferred. Administrative experience with supervising personnel
