Job Description:
We are in search of a Security Manager to work in our Mayodan, NC location. As an instrumental member of our Security Team, the Security Manager will have direct oversight of security operations at their respective manufacturing facility. The Security Manager is the direct liaison to the vendor security management staff at the designated location. The Security Manager responds to individual security matters at their designated location. The Security Manager is expected to work collaboratively as appropriate, with leadership, operations, employees and other functional areas, to promote a healthy and safe work environment, while still efficiently meeting the business needs. This may include working collaboratively with local emergency personnel (police, fire department, paramedics, etc.). All security associates must also be able to adhere to the Company’s core values of Integrity, Respect, Innovation and Teamwork.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The following primary duties and responsibilities apply to this position: Coordinate security efforts on the designated campus with numerous groups and individuals, including: the security vendor site supervisor, designated campus (and/or corporate) IT, Human Resources Manager and local HR staff, facilities management, and security technology vendors. Communicate security situations in a timely and effective manner to the General Manager and HR Manager Provide daily oversight and support to the Ruger security vendor site supervisor as appropriate and required. Identify daily security initiatives and standards, make changes when necessary. Seek advance approvals of changes from the General Manager and HR Manager as appropriate. Develop procedures to ensure physical safety of associates, vendors and visitors while on campus. Work with management staff to develop emergency procedures and incident response as necessary. Investigate security breaches or compliance situations when requested. Conduct periodic audits to identify opportunities to enhance security. Develop risk management assessments as requested or required. Review, on a regular basis, shift reports and incident reports submitted by vendor security staff regarding security (or other) incidents occurring on the Ruger designated campus. Conduct monthly inspections of the security staff on all three shifts, including random checks on weekend deployment. Review weekly vendor scheduling and billing; make necessary adjustments with vendor contact person. Ensure all technologies used by the security staff are working properly; schedule maintenance as needed with appropriate Ruger or other vendor services. Provide written narrative report of weekly activities as requested. Maintain compliance with yearly annual training and qualification requirements as required, for “armed” security officers as required by applicable federal, state and local laws. Respond to emergencies or emergent situations on a 24/7 basis, as required to ensure security at the designated campus. Coordinate with HR manager to create designated campus specific security procedures and standards. Develop security risk management assessments on specific issues as directed. Participate in special event or corporate VIP security events as requested. Maintain relationships with local, state, county, federal law enforcement agencies and other related government entities. Follow the operational dress code standard (see below).
Operational Dress Standards:
The Director of Security should dress professionally and comfortably for the position and weather.
The dress typically should be:
Ruger polo (golf shirt type) and tactical-style pants. If a firearm is being carried, it should be properly holstered. A Ruger Security Badge may be worn, but is not required. A standard Ruger associate badge should be worn and visible at all times. If a credible threat or situation exists requiring a higher level of security visibility, the Security Manager may be required to wear a vest or other equipment clearly marked “SECURITY,” including, for example, body armor. In a VIP or security situation requiring a low profile, plain clothes may be appropriate, in which case any firearm would be carried in a concealed fashion.
